For The Curvy Ladies: 8 Pairs of Jeans That Flatter and Hug

As black women, we come in an assortment of beautiful tones, shapes and sizes. Still, let’s face it, the average woman is NOT a size zero and there’s nothing wrong with that! In addition, some of us – skinny minis included – are blessed with a little more ‘junk in the trunk’ than others. This blessing can seem more like a curse when it comes to finding garments that fit, especially jeans. We all have our favorite pair of jeans. The ones that look great dressed up or down and make our butt look like a work of art. The saying, “Too much of a good thing” doesn’t apply here. We’re here to help you find a great pair that is constructed specifically with curvy ladies in mind. Click through the slideshow to find recommendations and tips on picking the perfect pair. Who can pass on good jeans?

PZI, Curve Black Boot Jean – $69

Since the skinny jean craze has taken over the world, it’s become a hard task to find a stylish boot cut jean. This pair by curve conscious company, PZI, has just the right amount flare!

Tip # 1: Find YOUR perfect fit. This means get measured and try on jeans in the dressing room every chance you get. Remember, sizes vary depending on the designer. Check out this video by PZI on how to measure your hips, waist and inseam.

7 for All Mankind, Roxanne Skinny in Black Black – $165

Back to black! This midnight pair of jeans will bring your curvaceous behind to forefront! The deeper the wash, the better the sliming effect. BONUS!

Tip #2: Go dark! A dark wash looks best on curvier figures because they help keep everything streamlined. Solid colors (no fading) will make your legs look great!

Plus Calvin Klein, One blue Riviera Wash Jeans – $80

This relaxed pair proves that jeans don’t have to be skin tight to look good. Roll up this ‘boyfriend’ style as many times as you like. The lighter wash helps emit a cool and casual vibe. Rock with a heeled boot for a slightly dressier approach.

Tip #3: When rocking the distressed look, keep it subtle. Too much distressing – especially on a light wash – can draw attention to larger thighs. So, leave the overly ripped jeans to the teeny boppers and women who don’t dress their age.

PZI, Caress Red Skinny Jean – $79

PZI does it again with these red skinny jeans! They would look beautiful on a curvy frame! Add heels for some extra height. Deck yourself in rich color this holiday season.

Tip #4: Don’t be afraid of color! A dark wash looks great, but that doesn’t mean it has to be blue! We love jewel tones, including this ruby red!

GAP, 1969 Curvy Jeans – $60

GAP does it right with these medium blue jeans. The wash has an old-school look and appeal! Keep it funky with this cool pair.

Tip #5: Be prepared to invest in quality. A few pairs of perfect fitting jeans are better than a ton of ill-fitting ones.

Levi, Modern Supreme Curve Straight Jeans – $68

Hot! Hot! These hip-hugging numbers contour to your figure seamlessly. A little stretch goes a long way.

Tip #6: Remember, spandex is a good thing. Denim mixed with a small percentage of spandex will help the jean mold to your shape. It will also eliminate the problem of extra space in the waist.

Avenue, Straight Leg Trouser Jeans – $54

This trouser jean will be the perfect addition to your casual Friday wardrobe! Keep things professional with a sharp crease and solid blue wash. Both heels and flats look great with this cool style. Work it lady!

Tip #7: If you want to avoid the dreaded ‘muffin top’ try a high-waist jean. This design elongates your legs and keeps your tummy tucked in.  Hello, mile long legs!

ASOS Curve, Skinny Flare with Abrasion – $55

Channel a 70’s diva with these cute flared jeans! The fitted waistband and double button closure ensure a snug fit! It’s a nice perk that flares balance out wider hips. Look phenomenal and proportionate at the same time!

Tip #8: Always pick jeans that feel a bit too snug over those that are a smidgen too loose. Over time, jeans will loosen and give you the perfect fit you crave.
