They aren’t making rent/mortgage payments
This is a luxury that many of our parents are experiencing: they are no longer making rent or mortgage payments. They already paid of their homes long, long ago. They aren’t renters. If they do still have remaining mortgage payments, it’s not that many, and the amount is pennies compared to the monthly mortgage payments first-time homeowners today take on.
