On tonight’s episode of “Black Love” on OWN, LeToya Luckett reveals she leaned on her father to help her process her first heartbreak.
Before LeToya wed her entrepreneur boo Tommicus Walker, the Destiny’s Child alum had her share of relationship trauma. In the teaser for the new episode, LeToya reveals after she found out one of her past boyfriend’s cheated on her, she confronted her father about his cheating habits to understand what leads a person to betray someone they claim to love.
“When I did get my heart broken, I went up to his job and I said, I need to have a conversation with you because this was the first time that I been cheated on and I knew he had done that to my mom,” the singer explained.
“So in my mind, I wanted to know, what a man thinks or what a person has to think to be able to do that to somebody else. So I’m going to talk to the person who introduced this to me into my life. So he took off work. And I said, ‘Explain cheating to me. Explain how I’m supposed to get over this heartbreak. Explain to me why this person had to lie to me this whole time and was able to look me in my face. I wanna know.’ And I think having that conversation with my father gave me healing.”
The mother of one explained that this groundbreaking conversation brought her and her father closer.
“I saw him not as just the parent hero, I saw him as a real person with flaws.”

With the pain behind her, LeToya is happily married and shares one child, Gianna Man Walker, with her husband. She is also a step mom to Tommicus’ daughter Madison, a daughter from a previous relationship.
