Rihanna‘s 5th Annual Diamond Ball took place last night at Cipriani’s in Manhattan. The purpose for this now annual function is to support the Clara Lionel Foundation the singer founded in honor of her grandparents. The foundation raises money for impoverished communities, providing healthcare and educational opportunities for people around the world. A number of well-known couples came out to support Rihanna, and also used the event as an opportunity to have date night. They got gussied up in elaborate gowns and suits and diamonds and posed for the cameras, sharing intimate, cute moments with one another inside of the ball. Photogs captured all of it, from new couple Kehlani and rapper YG, to Pharrell and wife Helen Lasichanh, and even controversial pair Fabolous and Emily B. There was a lot of love in the room for sure, and Rihanna (who attended without boyfriend Hassan Jameel of course) appreciated all of it.
“I mean I’m really happy right now,” she told PEOPLE. “The thing that’s making me the happiest tonight is seeing the amount of support, the magnitude of support is really special.”
“I mean I could be out here and throw a ball by myself and I’d feel good, but the thing that’s making me feel this high of cloud 9 is seeing people who believe in my cause and think it’s something worth donating to, something worth investing in.”
