Karrueche Tran is in the healthiest and happiest relationship she’s had in her young life.
The 31-year-old Claws star has been dating former NFL star Victor Cruz since 2017. As she told Big Boy in a recent interview on his radio show, “We’re good! We’re happy.” (12:48)
When asked if she could see herself marrying the 32-year-old baller, she smiled wide and said “Potentially, yeah,” confirming that she’s very much in love and hasn’t been in love like this before *cues Faith Evans.*
Tran said what makes this relationship different from any that she’s had in the past and what it’s helped her learn about herself is that she’s finally been given the space to care for herself and someone else simultaneously.
“That I can put myself first and also love someone else at the same time. There’s room for both,” she said. “I think before I was just putting too much energy into one and not giving a [inaudible] about myself, but now — I’m also in a different head space. I’m more career-driven and so I can take care of that. He lives on the east coast, so we have our time together, but then we also have our time apart where he works, and he does his thing and I have my thing and my space and we come back together.”
When it comes to negative comments online about her relationship, including from her ex, Tran said she is unphased.
“At this point, can’t none of that stuff break me,” she said. “I’ve been through the worst of the worst. Y’all know what I’m talking about. By myself, I dealt with some crazy stuff on social media so I don’t let none of that get in between us.”
In the past, Tran has happily gushed over Cruz, saying their relationship is “easy breezy” and “really refreshing” and that they “mesh very well.”
“He’s so sweet, like a really nice guy, he’s genuinely kind and it’s so refreshing to be with such a kind, great guy,” she said in 2018. “And it doesn’t hurt that his body is bangin’!”
And while she’s saying she’s happily in love now, Cruz made it clear last fall that he believed he found his soul mate.
“She’s very much the one for me. I love her very much,” he said. “We’re still growing and learning things about each other as we’re going along.”
