Two days after photos surfaced showing director Antoine Fuqua and Nicole Murphy embraced in a kiss overseas in Italy, Murphy has issued a second statement apologizing for her role in the uproar.
“Without going into the entire situation, I want to apologize to my family, and to Lela and the Fuqua family for what transpired,” Murphy said in a statement to TMZ.
The director has been married to actress Lela Rochon since 1999, and they share a teenage daughter and son.
Hours after the photos were initially shared, Murphy released a statement to Love B. Scott that the two were just friends. Her statement was in response to numerous allegations that the two had been engaged in a romantic relationship.
But things got murky as TMZ also reportedly spoke to a “source” who claims Murphy could have been under the impression that Fuqua was…single or in the process of becoming so. The source goes on to say Murphy allegedly thought the director was going through a divorce and feels very bad over the aftermath the photos have caused.
TMZ states that it’s unclear whether Murphy was given information from Fuqua on his relationship status or another source. Both Rochon and Fuqua have remained mum on the scandal since the photos were released.
