Loss of the Mucous Plug
During pregnancy, the mucous plug serves as the cork that seals your uterus. As you approach your due date, you may notice that your plug has been released. It can come out in small pieces or one large piece and its consistency will look very similar to the mucus that comes out when you have a cold.
