One element of borderline personality disorder is having delusions, and getting ones hopes so high it is actually unhealthy. People with borderline personality disorder already struggle to know the difference between what is real and what is in their heads when they have high hopes for something, which can lead them to have especially fantastical ideas of what things could be with a new love.
