Singer Brooke Valentine is a mom again.
The 34-year-old Love and Hip Hop Hollywood star wasn’t the one who revealed this news, though. The star’s fiancé, Marcus Black, with whom she appears on LHHH, announced that they recently welcomed a baby girl while showering the “Girlfight” singer with praise on Mother’s Day. According to him, it was her decision to be as low-key about the pregnancy and delivery as possible, noting that it was high risk.
“What do you get a woman who only wants privacy and chic-fil-a 😂 ???” he joked. “I went back and forth all day on whether or not I was gon post this but I mean… it’s Mother’s Day babe. I just can’t let the day end without publicly thanking you for our princess, I thank God for you and I’m excited about this new journey. Through all the ups and downs, high risk appointments, hospital stays and life’s uncertainties you stayed solid. You’ve always been ten toes down. I never had to question where you stood in my life. My plan is to multiply your investment in my purpose. I love you without conditions my ni–a… Happy Mother’s Day.”
In her own message on InstaStories, the singer thanked her fans for their well-wishes.
“Thank you all for your support and respect for privacy,” she wrote. “When it comes to my kids I’m just a bit old fashion.”
Valentine, born Kanesha Nichole Brookes, has a son named London from a prior relationship, born in 2010. She has been reportedly dating Black, a music producer, since 2015, and they got engaged while filming LHHH. For a period in their relationship, she was practicing celibacy, hoping to not have sex again until she was married.
“It’s a spiritual thing,” she said at the LHHH reunion in 2017. “One of the things that made me fall in love with Marcus is how he totally understood. We prayed together. I didn’t feel like he was kissing me with a motive or things like that. So although I’ve been called a ho a thousand times or two in one comment span, I’m not that.”
They’re engaged so…close enough.
If you’re impressed by the pair’s ability, along with friends and family, to keep this pregnancy and delivery under wraps, there’s a possibility that she may have received some tips on how to do it from the following stars. These famous folks kept pregnancies, including those of their chosen surrogates, on the low-low.

Rashida Jones
In August of 2018, actress Rashida Jones welcomed a son with musician Ezra Koenig. The pregnancy wasn’t made public, though she definitely wasn’t in the house hiding, and we haven’t seen her son since the big news broke.

Michael Ealy
The actor has kept pretty much everything about his personal life as private as possible. He married Khatira Rafiqzada on the low in 2012, despite the fact they reportedly dated for four years (where were we?). They have since gone on to have a whole son and daughter that people didn’t find out about until after they had already been out in the world for some time.

Zoe Saldana
When the actress was pregnant with twin boys (Cy and Bowie), whom she birthed in 2014, there was no way to hide it. However, when she and husband Marco Perego welcomed her third son in February, Zen, it was a complete surprise. The star hadn’t appeared pregnant, but to this day, she hasn’t confirmed that the child was born via surrogate.

Gabrielle Union
The actress and husband Dwyane Wade shocked fans, while also warming their hearts, when they announced last November that they had welcomed a daughter, Kaavia, born via surrogate. While Union didn’t make it public that she was going that route, she did hint early in 2018 that she saw a child in her near future with the help of her vision board.

Tyra Banks
In 2016, the famous model announced to the world that she and then-boyfriend Erik Asla had welcomed a son, her first child, via surrogate.
“The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here,” she wrote on Instagram. “He’s got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik’s mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone. York Banks Asla, welcome to the world.”

Drake
Were there rumors that Drake might have a child out in the world for a while? Yes. Without concrete proof or confirmation though, it just sounded like talk. However, when the rapper found himself in a rap beef with Pusha T, his musical nemesis revealed to the world that Drake indeed had a son he was hiding named Adonis. The star would confirm the news of his son, shared with adult film star Sophie Brussaux, last summer with the release of his album, Scorpion. As he put it, “I wasn’t hiding my kid from the world/I was hiding the world from my kid.”

Lauren London
Actress Lauren London has always been very low-key in general, but she’s especially private when it comes to her children.
When she had son Kameron in 2009 with her ex, rapper Lil Wayne, it was news to everyone. She also didn’t share it publicly when she was pregnant with her son, Kross, with rapper Nipsey Hussle. When she delivered him in August of 2016, she shared the news a week later. Photos of Kameron have always been few and far between, and we didn’t get to see Kross’ face until this past April after the unfortunate passing of Nipsey.

Donald Glover
After winning a Golden Globe in 2017 for his work on Atlanta, Glover surprised everyone by revealing that he and girlfriend Michelle White gave birth to a son named Legend a year prior. The couple now have two kids, the second, another boy, born in January 2018.

Viola Davis
The Academy-Award winner announced in 2011 at a ELLE Women in Hollywood event that she and husband Julius Tennon had welcomed a baby girl named Genesis. They had officially adopted her and brought her home just a few days before the annual soiree.

Savannah James
There was speculation early on that Savannah and LeBron were expecting again in early 2014 after she’d been spotted at a NBA All Star formal affair with what looked like a bump. The couple didn’t confirm anything, but months later, she did indeed have a baby shower and quietly deliver baby girl Savannah in October.
