He’s uncomfortable with your emotions
If you show emotions—like if you cry after a fight with a friend or are very sad after a career letdown—he becomes noticeably stiff and awkward. He doesn’t know how to console you. He can only offer practical help like, a glass of water or looking over your resume that didn’t get you the job.
