Angela Bassett Isn’t As Obsessed With Her Age As You Are
Ever since she reminded us that “love’s got nothing to do with it,” we’ve been obsessed with Dr. Angela Bassett’s phenomenal body. But while we’re all constantly agape at her awe-inspiring arms and taut tummy the Black Panther actress is over us talking about her impressive figure. In an exclusive interview for her recent Net-A-Porter cover story, she told the reporter that she’s often unsure how to respond at people’s shock that she’s still in fighting shape at 59 years old.
The Mission: Impossible -Fallout star stated, “You don’t really know what to say when someone says: ‘Oh my God, you look so good.’ What do they expect? For you to be completely broken down?”
She was far from “broken down” in her photo shoot for the article. The Queen looked regal as always in a Saint Laurent blouse (get a similar look here), Laura Lombardi earrings, and a Melissa Kaye ring.

She dubbed her irritation about people’s expectations “a high-class problem to have” compared to her previous woes including people opting to literally assault her in public because they were so preoccupied with her powerful frame.
After portraying Tina Turner in the role that cemented her place as a critical darling she used to have to deal with people being so fascinated by her body that they would literally start manhandling her. According to Net-A-Porter, the actress said, “people got very physical, people would grab me.” She added, “I would be like: ‘I don’t know you, Mister.’ It was very intrusive. There’s less of that now, thankfully.”
While people have stopped touching her body it hasn’t stopped them from sneaking a peek and wondering what she does to keep it all together.
She revealed that while she does have a trainer that she sees several times throughout the week when she is home in Los Angeles, she isn’t obsessed with exercise. When traveling she will “try to get to the hotel gym and do 30 minutes of cardio, and lift a couple of weights or something. But I’m not getting up at 4am to workout.”
Check out Angela’s amazing acting skills (and body!) on the silver screen this weekend in Mission: Impossible – Fallout.
