Today, in an article from the New York Daily News, I read about Janelle Edwards. Edwards was a 25-year-old mother of two from the Bronx. She made news because after trip to the Dominican Republic, Edwards returned to the Bronx. And a month later she was found, hunched over her steering wheel, unresponsive. 30 minutes after that she was pronounced dead at the hospital. The cause of death was a blood clot, believed to be brought on by the breast enhancement, tummy tuck and butt implant procedures she had done in the DR.
Edwards is far from the only one to fall victim to not only the pressure to look a certain way of looking a certain way. But also to the side effects of such operations.
While some of the following celebrities have been fortunate enough to still have their lives, they’ve been very vocal about the ways in which the surgery or surgeries have been problematic.

Most recently, “Love and Hip Hop Hollywood” start Teairra Mari talked about the issue she had with her backside being a little too juicy. During a VH1 show “Dirty Little Secrets” she said,
“Yeah my butt might’ve been leaking but it was leaking fat. It wasn’t leaking no fake, prosthetic s***. But I still got a nice a** and you better know it.”
And before you start judging poor Teairra, know that her leakage is not uncommon. Trevia Williams, a co-executive producer for the show said she’s seen it before.
“I had a couple cast members who were pumping up their hinder parts with whatever they were putting in them. They would come to set and there would be leakage on the couches, back of their dresses.”
Note: This is not to say that Erica Jean was one of the women leaking. Though she did admit on “Iyanla Fix My Life” that she had had work done on her behind.
When Tami Roman appeared on “The Doctors”, she kept it cute. “I hate it. I thought it would do good. I thought
I was plumping it. Now I just want to dump it. Listen, you don’t want to do it.”
But on her Instagram page, Official Bonnet Chronicles, she explained in more detail about why it’s getting on her nerves. Check it out in the video above.

English model and reality star Alicia Douvall is known, perhaps, more for her plastic surgery than anything else. The 38-year-old attributes all of her numerous surgeries to a body dysmorphia disorder. While she’s been under the knife quite a bit, her butt implants were particularly challenging.
She told Closer: “I totally regret them I got them when I was about 24 years old,” Alicia, 37, explains. “I remember the surgeon telling me I’d be the first in UK to have them. I didn’t think about the fact that meant he hadn’t done them before on anyone else, or that he would essentially be practicing on me. I just wanted pioneering surgery; to be the first and to push the boundaries. If someone put an idea in my head that something wasn’t perfect, then I went to any length and risk to fix it. The operation was the hardest one of all,” she remembers. “I had to lie on my front for weeks, in agonising pain. I literally couldn’t sit down for six weeks! But my butt looked great in jeans. The pain never subsided. “I never really recovered. I always had shooting pain down my leg and an ache in my buttocks.”
It was about two years ago when K. Michelle announced during an interview with B Scott that she was getting rid of some of her booty in order to advance her career.
“I have like movies and different things [I’m working on], and I was having a real conversation with Tyrese — we’re really like great friends. I was telling him about my butt, how I hate being typecasted because my bottom is so heavy — not saying I don’t love myself, but…you know. For me, I want my normal shape back,” she explained. “For me, and my career right now, and me doing business — like really being on the frontline in business — I don’t need to have a man looking down at my a– when I’m trying to talk numbers. I don’t need to not be able to get the role. Like, I wanna be in ‘Jurassic Park’! Let me be in ‘Jurassic Park’! I don’t need to not be able to run through Jurassic Park because my ass is too heavy. Before the dinosaurs come to eat me, I need to be able to go!”
While Cardi B certainly doesn’t regret augmenting her body, she did admit that it came from a place of feeling inadequate in the strip club. She said she always wanted to have her breasts done but being in the strip club made it imperative. And then when she was in the urban clubs, she realized that she needed her behind done as well.
Cardi spoke about feeling less than normal during the procedure in an interview with DJ Vlad.
“When I was getting my ass shots, I was awake and I almost passed out. I was like ‘I feel like I’m about to faint,’ I was telling the lady. And she was like, ‘Well, you only have one ass cheek done.’ So she gave me some milk and cookie and we just continued the procedure.”

“Well, I mean, I did enhance my butt, but I took it out. It was a fat transfer, but I took it out. It was too big. It’s still too big. I don’t like it. It’s too much attention… It’s just a lot everywhere. It’s too much.”

In an interview with People, Montag said “I was in way over my head with the surgeries. I had no idea what I was getting into or that it was a lifelong commitment. It was very challenging, both physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally, on my husband and on our lives. It was a huge turning point for us in such a negative way. There was a fallout with The Hills and a lot of backlash with the things we were doing. We spent more money and it was so unnecessary. Sometimes I can’t believe I did that to us and to me. It’s been a lot to overcome.”
Renee is no stranger to surgery but when she went in for her butt augmentation, she developed a staph infection so severe that left her unable to see or hear. There was even blood dripping down beneath her hospital bed.
Even after all of that, she went under the knife again.
