Necole Kane has had one heck of a journey in the entertainment industry and we can all learn something from her career highs and lows. A bonafide entrepreneur and now the creator of women of color lifestyle site xoNecole, Kane was once notoriously known for the gossip site NecoleBitchie.com.
However, ditching her title as gossip blogger in 2015, in hopes of cleaning up her reputation and focus on contributing positive content to the world, hasn’t been easy. Now, she’s speaking out candidly on her own Vlog to share with others that looks can be deceiving.
“Over the past year, I’ve seen many people comment to me that my life is #goals,” she says. “That my rebrand was flawless and I’ve been looked at as though I have the golden touch. That is far from the truth. It was a complete struggle to get to the happy place I’m currently in.”
In the video, she also admits to going broke several times, even to the point of debt, in which she breaks down in tears: “I started to think about how I ended up and here and realized I made so many mistakes. And the number one mistake I made was trying to live up to the expectations of other people and trying to compete with my old success.”
“Right now it’s a total mess … it’s not a total mess. I’m cleaning up the mess,” she continued. “I am at the tail end of girl you are a mess, but girl you are getting there.”
