Pastor Jamal Bryant Introduces Singer Tweet as His “Last Lady”
Looks like love if officially in the works for Pastor Jamal Bryant and “Oops (Oh My)” singer, Tweet. On a recent episode of FOX network’s “The Preachers” where the men took turns introducing their “first ladies”, Bryant stated that not only was Tweet was his first lady, but he intends on making her his last.
“We’ve grown into an incredible friendship. I call her my last lady.”
The relationship which The Root describes as “weirder than Birdman and Toni Braxton” all started when he met the Missy Elliott discovered singer in New York while he was on the way to a premiere for an Oprah Winfrey movie. The pastor asked the songstress for a photo and sparks flew.
A week ago, Tweet (whose real name is Charlene Keys), shared her love for the pastor in an Instagram post while taping the show:
She also revealed the relationship on a recent episode of Centric’s “Being” in which she also shared the external struggles that affected her relationship with mentor Missy Elliott. Earlier this year, the singer revealed to the Los Angeles Times that she had hit “rock bottom” not too long ago while struggling with alcoholism and depression:
“I was at my wits’ end. I was drinking every day, smoking three packs of cigarettes. It was like, come on, this can’t be life.”
She reveals that spirituality helped her heal through the hard times:
“I took myself on a spiritual journey. My spiritual life is on point now. I wouldn’t be here today if I hadn’t made that choice to go back and rededicate myself. That’s when my blessings started coming — hit or miss, with different labels. It was all done to build me for this time. I didn’t take it personal. I knew to keep the faith. I couldn’t hit anymore rock bottom than I already did.”
She released her third album “Charlene” earlier this year.
Bryant has a few struggles in his past as well including rumored issues of infidelity leading to a divorce from Real Housewives of Potomac star, Gizelle Bryant in 2009 and scandal surrounding a child he allegedly fathered out of wedlock this past spring.
Despite the drama, it appears these two feel like they have the real thing. Check out Bryant claiming Tweet as his “last lady” below:
