If you were around in the ’90s you’ve used the phrase “Call Me Now” in a Jamaican accent more than once or twice in your life and had a good laugh. Sadly, today’s news about the woman who brought that phrase to life is no laughing matter.

TMZ reports Miss Cleo has passed away at 53 after losing a battle with cancer. Miss Cleo’s real name was Youree Harris and, according to her rep, she died Tuesday morning in Palm Beach County, FL.

“We’re told she was recently hospitalized, but was discharged last week to a hospice center,” TMZ reports. “We’re told Cleo was originally diagnosed with colon cancer … but it spread to her liver and lungs.”

Harris, who was born in LA and not Jamaica just in case you were wondering, reportedly died surrounded by family and friends. After her stint with the Psychic Readers Network as one of the most iconic psychics of the late 1990s — after Sylvia Browne and Dionne Warwick of course — Harris reportedly bounced around from job to job and even voiced a character in the video game, “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.”

Prayers up to her family.
