Pissed. Outraged. Appalled. If you’re a devout Sleepy Hollow fan, a.k.a., a Sleepyhead, you may still be recovering from the shock of agent Abbie Mills’s death in the Season 3 finale. And if you take to tweeting or have been anywhere near the Internet, you might have come across numerous comments and the hashtags #CancelSleepyHollow (which actually surfaced before Abbie died) and #IAmAbbieMills.
In a statement released to TVLine.com, actress Nicole Beharie stated that “Abbie Mills has done all she was meant to do.” And though Beharie supposedly wanted out of the show for a while, her character’s death leaves a gaping hole in Sleepy Hollow. It also reminds us of the number of minority characters on the show who previously left or were killed off altogether. But none of them were lead characters. How will Sleepy Hollow go on without Abbie Mills? More importantly, now that Abbie’s gone, who will be watching?
In honor of our fallen hero, let’s take a walk down Abbie memory lane.
Fist Bump Heaven
Abbie was brave, strong, intelligent…and no stranger to fist bumping. Oh, the things she taught Crane.
Singing Karaoke
…with Crane, of course. It only happened once on the show, but this scene exemplified Ichabbie’s relationship. Or at least, the kind of relationship that fans desperately wanted to see.
The Incident At Stone Manor
Abbie’s natural curls sure steal some scenes in the “Incident at Stone Manor” episode.
Romance
How many times did Ichabbbie tease us with the potential for something more than friendship? Fans will truly miss their rapport.
Sisters
For Abbie, having a relationship outside of Ichabod with her sister and fellow agent, Jenny, was crucial. It showed another side of her.
Sacrifice
Abbie sacrificed herself for others…time and again. She stepped into Pandora’s evil tree, and she gave the ultimate sacrifice in the final episode of Season 3.
Hugs Galore
Due to long absences and the constant threat of death, Abbie and Ichabod hugged incessantly.
Back In Time
Abbie held her own when she traveled back in time to 1781. This woman boldly crisscrossed time, space and countless supernatural and otherworldly dimensions.
Inside Jokes
Sometimes the dialogue on Sleepy Hollow, often infused with pop culture references, seems like it’s referring not only to the show itself but fan culture. And now Abbie is no longer in on that joke. Shame.
