Quiet guys can have a hard time getting women. Women often read them as disinterested, lacking confidence, or even pretentious. The guy buying shots at the bar always gets more play. But should he? Here are solid reasons to talk to the shy guy.

The loud guy is afraid to be alone

The loud guy usually needs to be surrounded by people. He is great at being with people because it’s the only way of life he knows. Without people around him, he gets anxiety and feels worthless. He can’t be alone with his own thoughts.

The quiet guy is happy alone

The quiet guy obviously can enjoy his life without constant stimuli. Do you know what that means? It means he is stable, and he is happy with himself. If you were to date, he wouldn’t be clingy.

The loud guy needs female attention

Often the flirty, outgoing guys desperately crave female attention. They feel insecure or unworthy if some woman isn’t chasing them. Translation: as your boyfriend, they would always flirt with other women the second they felt neglected.

The quiet guy is secure

The quiet guy knows he is a catch—he doesn’t need women constantly confirming it. You wouldn’t have to worry that if you stopped paying attention to him for one second, he would cheat on you.

The loud guy can’t stay still

Do you think the guy in the neon tank top can just stay home and watch a documentary on a Saturday night? Yeah right. If he is your boyfriend, you’ll have to chain him to a couch for a quiet night.

The loud guy never stops talking

Sure the loud guy has plenty of great things to say—he has the whole bar in stitches—but has he stopped talking for one minute?

The quiet guy is a listener

It’s just a mathematical truth that the less a guy talks, the more he listens. Okay, it’s probably true. I don’t know about the math part. But you can guarantee a guy doesn’t love the sound of his own voice if he uses it sparingly.

The loud guy ignores his friends

Some guys get together with their friends and go to a bar under the guise of “catching up with friends.” Then they spend the night ignoring their buddies and chasing women. That doesn’t say much about how they value friendships.

The quiet guy values friendship

The guy who sticks to his friend group may not be shy—he may just value talking to his friends. He might just be doing exactly what he said he was going to do that night, which was catch up with old buddies.

The loud guy is drunk

This is just a practical reality: the drunker a guy gets, the louder her gets. So your chances of a lasting relationship with the man singing karaoke when there was no actual karaoke going on are slim to none.

The quiet guy is sober(ish)

The quiet guy might actually still be somewhat sober and might remember you tomorrow. The quiet guy might have a real understanding of whether or not he likes you, rather than drunk goggles that make him think he loves you for now.

The loud guy is an entertainer

The boisterous guy usually just wants people to see how charming and fun he is. He’s too busy being entertaining to learn anything about anybody.

The quiet guy is curious about others

The quieter guy is often quiet because he is observing people and cares to see what others are about. He isn’t in the interaction to rub his own ego and show off how funny he can be—he’s in it to learn about you.

The loud guy is single

The loud guy is definitely single—like super single. Okay, he’s desperate. He needs to get laid. He’s literally screaming it from the bar top.

The quiet guy is dating

I’m not saying he is in a relationship (because that would be useless to you) but I am saying that maybe the reason he doesn’t mind sitting quietly is because he already has women interested in him. He is already dating a few people. Translation: women are into him. Don’t you want to find out why?
