Phylicia Rashad is a successful actress, singer and stage director. Many know her from her role as Clair Huxtable on the NBC sitcom The Cosby Show but she has done so much more than that in her career. In recent years she has had roles in the Tyler Perry film For Colored GirlsGood Deeds, and Steel Magnolias.

She became the first African-American actress to win the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play and she won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Television Movie, Mini-Series or Dramatic Special just to name a few accolades.

She married dentist William Lanceleot Bowles, Jr in 1972 and they had one son, William Lancelot Bowles III, who was born in 1973. The marriage ended in 1975 but in 1985 she remarried  former NFL wide receiver and sportscaster Ahmad Rashād. Their daughter, Condola Phyleia Rashad, was born on December 11, 1986 in New York and the couple divorced in early 2001.

There is not a lot of info online about her son, however her daughter Condola followed in her footsteps and became an actress.  Condola starred as Shelby in the 2012 remake of Steel Magnolias, NBC series Smash,  Sex and the City 2, and Juliet in the new Broadway production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to name a few.
