Not every alternative treatment goes over well with people. In 2005, Tom Cruise got in serious PR trouble when he criticized Brooke Shields for using antidepressants to deal with postpartum depression after the birth of her daughter. Cruise said he didn’t believe in the existence of depression. “There is no such thing as a chemical imbalance.” Instead, he felt that Shields should have tried “vitamins and exercise.”
