Is it just us? Or is 2015 shaping up to be the year of the foot in mouth? From Azealia Banks to Benedict Cumberbatch, here are the celebrities who slipped up and said the wrong thing.

When Azealia Banks Called Pharrell “Puss In Boots”

Azealia Banks proved that her Twitter chill levels can still go down to “none at all” when she posted this Chanel ad featuring Pharrell and captioned it “puss in boots.”

But after the photo collected more than a few negative comments, Banks took it down.

When Stacey Dash Blamed Lazy Women For The Wage Gap

Stacey Dash’s advice for helping women bridge the pay gap? Just work harder.

On a recent episode of The Meredith Vieira Show, Dash said that gender wage gap is just an “excuse” for women too lazy to work hard enough to be paid as much as men.

“It’s the same thing with race, it’s an excuse. Stop making excuses. If there are opportunities seize them and be prepared for them and be the best if that’s what it takes. If you have to be extraordinary then be extraordinary.”

You can watch the frustrating exchange here.

Jamie Foxx’s Bruce Jenner Joke

“Bruce Jenner will be here, doing some musical performances. He’s doing a ’his’ and ’her’ duet all by himself… Look, I’m just busting your balls. While I still can.”

This joke at the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards got Jamie Foxx in hot Twitter water as followers called the joke “crass,” “hateful,” “derogatory” and “ignorant.”

But Foxx says the joke wasn’t meant to be transphobic. After all, he said that he gave B. Scott one of his first big opportunities by offering him a show on The Foxxhole.

Benedict Cumberbatch’s “Colored” Problem

Who’s under 90 years old and still calling black people “coloreds?” Benedict Cumberbatch apparently.

During an interview with Tavis Smiley in January, Benedict Cumberbatch — who was in 12 Years A Slave — used the word to discuss the problems British actors face:

“I think as far as coloured actors go, it gets really different in the UK, and a lot of my friends have had more opportunities here [in the US] than in the UK, and that’s something that needs to change.

Something’s gone wrong, we’re not representative enough in our culture of different races and that really does need to step up a pace.”

It sounds like Cumberbatch meant well, but one Tweeter pointed out that if Benedict had any black friends at all — including his co-stars — he would have dropped that outdated word from his vocabulary. The actor decided that being that out of touch was embarrassing enough to warrant an apology.

Chris Wallace On Kelly Clarkson

FOX News anchor Chris Wallace landed himself in trouble on the air when he fat-shamed Kelly Clarkson.

“Holy cow, did she blow up. She could stay off the deep dish pizza for a little while.”

Remember when news reporters just reported actual news? Wallace has since apologized. He said, “I sincerely apologize to Kelly Clarkson for my offensive comment. I admire her remarkable talent and that should have been the focus of any discussion about her.”

Matthew McConaughey’s Side Gig

Matthew McConaughey isn’t in trouble for what he said, but rather, for the business he’s supported.

Apparently, a ranch with his name on it has been allowing hunters to shoot caged deer for sport. This highly controversial form of hunting has enraged animal rights activists and put the Dallas Buyer’s Club star under pressure to get rid of the ranch.

Trevor Noah’s Tweets

Plan on becoming world-famous? Better clear your Twitter history now. About 15 minutes after Trevor Noah became Jon Stewart’s replacement on The Daily Show, these old Tweets baptized the new news anchor in a little bit of controversial fire:

A hot white woman with ass is like a unicorn. Even if you do see one, you’ll probably never get to ride it.

I’m watching Olympic women’s hockey. It’s like lesbian p*rn. Without the p*rn. #InLove.

“Oh yeah the weekend. People are gonna get drunk & think that I’m sexy!” – fat chicks everywhere.

Behind every successful Rap Billionaire is a double as rich Jewish man. #BeatsByDreidel!

Are these Tweets too racy for a TV personality? While some folks were calling for Trevor Noah to step down from his new position months before he’s slated to start, the comedian is not budging. He has the support of outgoing host, Jon Stewart.

Jill Scott’s Cosby Defense

Early on in the Bill Cosby controversy, Jill Scott drew a lot of fire for coming to Cosby’s defense on social media.

“I’m respecting a man who has done more for the image of Brown people that [sic] almost anyone EVER. From Fat Albert to the Huxtables.”

As the accusations continue to pile up (the number is 37 now), Scott still stands by the comedy legend.

The RHOA Shade Wars

NeNe called Claudia Jordan a half-breed, but in audio and video dug up from her past, Claudia called Tiny Harris a “waste of light skin” and made remarks about black people being monkeys. After this super shady season of Real Housewives of Atlanta, I think we can conclude that all of the ladies could stand to do much better.

Raven-Symoné on Harriet Tubman

Did Raven-Symoné just shoot down the idea of having Harriet Tubman on the new $20 bill because she doesn’t want to offend white people?

This is the comment she recently made on The View:

“No offense to everyone that’s going to be mad at me for saying this, I don’t like that idea. I think we need to move a little bit forward. Let me just preface that I understand the history, I get it trust me, I was taught, I was in that culture. … I would’ve chosen Rosa Parks.

I would have chosen someone that is closer to the progression that we’re doing now. And I know you have to understand history so that you don’t repeat it, but that doesn’t really happen in our world, because we still repeat history of hating other cultures over and over again. So I would choose a different one, no offense.”

Do you agree?

Rich Homie Quan’s Rape Lyrics

“I don’t want your ho, just want that cookie from her/
She tried to resist so I took it from her/
How are you gonna tell me no?/
You must not know who I am.”

These controversial lyrics by ATL rapper Rich Homie Quan on the Young Thug song “I Made It” alienated a lot of the rapper’s fans when they were recently leaked.
And while Rich Homie Quan admits those are his lyrics, he never meant for anyone to hear them:

“‘I Made It’ was never intended to be released. The song was not lyrically what I wanted to say and was not completed. Without my knowledge, there was a studio leak of the recording. I apologize that it’s out; and I have asked my lawyer to pursue a cease and desist on the song immediately. To be clear, I would never condone rape.”

Giuliana Rancic’s Shady Hair Comments

Giuliana Rancic started this year’s flurry of verbal celebrity missteps when she said that faux-dread wearing Zendaya Coleman looked like she smelled “like patchouli oil … or weed.”

But when Rancic followed those comments with one of Hollywood’s most heartfelt apologies, even her critics were tempted to let her off of the hook.

Tyga’s Reasons For Dating Kylie Jenner

Tyga, 25, and 17-year-old Kylie Jenner may just be the most controversial couple of 2015.

And while it’s one thing to date a teenage girl, it’s a different thing to taunt authorities by saying, “I don’t give a f**k about what the law says.”

Tyga’s recent statements have friends and fam worried about his freedom. Cops have said that they won’t intervene in their relationship unless someone complains… and comments like these are sure to put him on somebody’s watch list…
