He credits his father for encouraging him early on to devote his life to the sport. “My father made me who I am,” the former NBA superstar said. “He gave me a basketball and told me to play with the ball, sleep with the ball, dream with the ball.” His father may have shaped him but there’s nothing that comes between Shaq and his mom. “Above all else, I’m a mama’s boy!”
