Lou Ferrigno was born and raised in Brooklyn and as a newborn he suffered from a series of ear infections that resulted in 75-80% hearing loss although it he wasn’t diagnosed until he was three years old. However, “The Incredible Hulk” star used that disability to motivate him and credits his hearing impairment on his successful career in Hollywood. “I think that if I wasn’t hard of hearing I wouldn’t be where I am now,” he said in an interview. “It takes time to overcome a handicap. There are ups and downs and you can never be a quitter. I believe the maxim that you only get out of life what you put into it.”
