Last spring when Floyd Mayweather released medical documents belonging to ex-fiancée, Shantel Jackson, on social media, many expressed that he was begging for a lawsuit. As you may recall, the boxing champion uploaded a snapshot of the paperwork, which included a sonogram, and claimed that Jackson aborted their twin babies.
“The real reason me and Shantel Christine Jackson @missjackson broke up was because she got an abortion,” he wrote. “I’m totally against killing babies. She killed our twin babies.”
It appears that Floyd has just been hit with the lawsuit that many felt his actions warranted. Yesterday during a press conference, Shantel announced that she had filed a civil lawsuit against Floyd. According to the AP, the lawsuit was filed on Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court…just nine days before Floyd’s upcoming rematch against Marcos Maidana. The conference was held at the office of Shantel’s attorney Gloria Allred.
“There was a point in my relationship with Floyd where I thought we would be together forever,” Shantel said before breaking down. “I loved him so much and I made sure I took care of him the best way I knew how. I tried my best to make our relationship work by compromising and going to relationship counseling. But I finally realized that there was no hope for our relationship and I could not continue. I loved Floyd deeply, but he continued to disappoint and intentionally hurt me. I have been embarrassed and humiliated more than I could ever imagine by Floyd, who I once called my best friend and fiancé.
I have tried everything I could and have given Floyd every opportunity to do the right thing. Unfortunately, he has refused every opportunity to make things right. It is with a heavy heart that I finally realized that the only way to set the record straight and to achieve justice for what he has done to me is through the filing of this lawsuit.”
In her suit, Shantel alleges that Floyd beat her on multiple occasions during their seven-year relationship and at one point, even pulled out a gun on her and threatened to shoot. She also points out that she was humiliated by his decision to upload her medical documents and sonogram to the Internet. The lawsuit also contains allegations that Floyd threatened to leak nude photos of Shantel to the Internet if she refused to remove photos of herself with Nelly from her social media accounts. She’s currently suing for battery, defamation, invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress and harassment, among other things.
