Beverly Johnson will always be known as the model who broke the color barrier. She was the first Black woman to appear on the cover of Vogue in 1974. A year later she made history again by gracing the cover of the French edition of Elle magazine. Johnson gave birth to her first and only daughter, Anansa Sims, who’s also a model, in 1984 with her second husband.
