Ray Combs
He started out as a stand-up comedian and hit it big when he was named as the successor to Richard Dawson on “Family Feud.” Ray Combs began hosting the game show in 1988 but six years later, CBS gave him the boot. Although he got another gig hosting “Family Challenge,” that didn’t last long and soon Combs was faced with marital and financial problems. Things got worse when he survived a near-fatal car accident and his mental and physical health deteriorated. Admitted into the psychiatric ward of a medical center, Combs hung himself in a closet in 1996 at the age of 40.
