During an interview with Diane Sawyer in 2000, Carrie Fisher announced that she suffers from bipolar disorder. However, her condition went undiagnosed for years as she had convinced herself that she was just a drug addict. She talks about her struggle with the disorder in her book Wishful Drinking and says that living with the disorder is a feat in itself.
