We’ve all seen the lists about celebrities who could pass as brothers and sisters, mothers and daughters, or even distant cousins, but this list takes lookalikes to an entirely new level. Somehow, some of today’s celebrities look eerily like a few famous people from the past. Check out this list of 15 celebrities with historical dopplegangers.

Queen Latifah

To the left is Zora Neale Hurston and to the right is Queen Latifah. Zora Neale Hurston was a well-known writer and folklorist during the Harlem Renaissance and is probably best known for her book, Their Eyes Were Watching God. While Zora and Queen Latifah aren’t related, these two beautiful women could pass as mother and daughter.

Jay-Z

Jay-Z’s historical doppleganger is one of the more recent finds to have gone viral. Jay-Z looks extremely similar to a man found in a picture taken in Harlem in 1939 by a man named Sid Grossman. It’s unclear who the man in the picture is but by the looks of it, he may be a Carter.

Justin Timberlake

Of course, Justin Timberlake is on the left, but the man on the right is the mugshot of a man from the 1920s. No name has been given but it’s kind of scary how closely these two resemble each other. Thankfully Justin hasn’t followed down the same path as his historical doppleganger.

Ellen DeGeneres

This definitely isn’t a stab at Ellen Degeneres, but her and author/poet Henry David Thoreau could easily pass as being related. Their big bright eyes, noses, and mouths definitely make it look as though the two of them share some blood somewhere down the line. It looks like Ellen turned out to be the funnier one, though.

Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey and Maya Angelou are both extremely powerful women who have broken boundaries and limits when it comes to black women. To add to that, the two also look a lot alike, from the eyes, nose, lips, and the overall shape and size of their faces. All we have to say is, beautiful!

Maggie Gyllenhaal

Comparing their eyes, noses, and lips, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Rose Wilder Lane could easily pass as relatives. Serena Williams

At first glance, Serena Williams and Betty Shabazz could easily be sisters! The two share the same exact lips, eyes, nose, and facial structure. Serena Williams has become a famous tennis player, along with her sister, while Betty Shabazz, also known as Betty X, was Malcolm X’s wife and a huge civil rights advocate. In her younger years, she looked exactly like Serena Williams.

Nicholas Cage

From some of his movies, it’s evident that when he’s in character, Nicholas Cage has some pretty awesome super powers. However, despite the similarity between him and a picture of a soldier from the Civil War era, he is not in fact a member of the service. Nicholas has even admitted that the picture looks like him, stating that this man looks like a “slowed down version of him.”

Kathy Bates

Similarly to Ellen DeGeneres, Kathy Bates just happens to share a lot of the same physical qualities as Howard Taft, the 27th President of the U.S as well as the 10th Chief Justice. Kathy and Howard have the same facial structure, including the nose, eyes, and even very similar ears and chins. Howard could easily pass as being her dad, or grandfather.

Christina Aguilera

No one can compare to Christina Aguilera’s amazing voice and looks, but she looks a lot like Ginger Rogers, a 20th century American actress who was known on the stage, in films, and on the radio. Aside from the bright blonde hair and the piercing blue eyes, these two women share almost identical lips, noses, and even chins.

Lauryn Hill

Lauryn Hill and prominent medical professional Mary Mahoney look a lot alike, especially when looking at their eyes, noses, and lips. Mary Mahoney made history as the first black women to study and work as a professional nurse and went on to co-found the National Association of Colored Graduate Nurses. On the other hand, Lauryn has gone on to become a singer and artist.

Charlie Sheen

If time travel were real, we’d say that Charlie Sheen was once an American abolitionist from Connecticut. When comparing Charlie Sheen and John Brown, the similarities between the two are crazy. The two men have the same facial structure and shape as well as the same noses and ears. Even the hair is quite similar!

Susan Rice

Susan Rice, current U.S. National Security Advisor, has become a well-known name in the U.S. government, having served in the Clinton administration as well as under Obama. When put side by side with Josephine Baker, a prominent American-born French dancer and singer, the two could pass as long lost sisters. The noses, eyes, and facial structure say it all!
