“Catfish” has had two seasons of some of the most outrageous reality on TV and we can’t wait for the new episode to air tonight. Online dating can be dangerous and we’ve got 15 reasons why you should be sure you know who you’re talking to before things go any further, thanks to the lessons we’ve learned from these Catfish episodes.
Jasmine and Mike
Jasmine loved Mike, but she probably should have Skyped with him before falling head over heels. “Mike” wasn’t his real name and “he” was actually a “she” — her former friend Mhissy. Turns out, Mhissy and Jasmine were talking to the same dude. So Mhissy Catfished Jasmine with “Mike” to steer her away from her man. It was a scandalous move but Mhissy wasn’t the least bit sorry.
Rob and Ebony
Rob was a brother exploring his sexuality on an LGBT website when he found Ebony: a woman “with the same stuff” he had. Only Rob wasn’t sure if he was into dudes. So it should have been a great surprise when he finally met Ebony and found out that the secret she was hiding was that she was a real woman all along. But turns out, Rob was more into dudes than he thought and told Ebony he just wasn’t interested.
Sunny and Jamison
Sunny was so in love with Jamison that she stole him from her sister. Unfortunately, both of them had been dating a girl. Turns out Jamison was a high school lesbian Catfishing girls on her way out of the closet.
Kya and Alyx
This episode proved there could be anyone on the other side of the screen. Kya was a BBW pretending to be a slim goth chick. But she wasn’t the only one lying. Turns out, Alyx wasn’t an attractive European boy but a lesbian named Dani. Then it got crazier: Kya revealed that she was actually bi and the two of them made out for the rest of the episode.
Joe and Keri Ann
Nobody believed that Joe was really dating a model and former Miss USA contestant. But no one expected that “Keri Ann” was really his close friend who’d been smiling for the cameras all episode long. Turns out, she was messing with him just for fun.
Steve and Cassie
Cassie was partying way too hard when she met “Steve” online and he helped her turn her life around. The two even got engaged via text. Only “Steve” wasn’t a real person; he was Cassie’s best friend. She made “Steve” up to get Cassie to come hang out with her on the straight and narrow when she started hanging with her party friends too often.
Anthony and Marq
Anthony wanted to meet his boo “Marq”. But he stood Anthony up on their date saying he got car jacked and run over by his own car. That turned out to be as fictitious as it sounds and so was “Marq”. Anthony fell in love with pictures of a hot male model, but “Marq” was really a fat black dude missin’ a tooth. So Anthony decided to cut his losses and move on.
Dorion and Jezsica
Dorion was an average Joe in love with “Jezsica,” a Vanessa Williams-looking urban model. But Dorion already had a girl at home who he was living with. He told her he loved “Jezsica” more so she let him go to find his lost love. But as it turned out, “Jezsica” was far from a model: just an average chick who’d used an urban model’s pictures to con a bunch of men on the internet. So Dorion went back home without either girl.
Jen and Skylar
Jen was a small-town girl in love with another highschool student named “Skylar.” Only, “Skylar” was really a 30-something named Brian who liked to lure young girls into relationships with “Skylar”‘s pictures to “improve his game” and poor Jen went home heartbroken.
Mike and Kristen
Mike was in love with a beautiful blonde named “Kristen” for 4.5 years, but she was too nervous to meet up with him — even though she only lived an hour away. Turns out she was nervous because she wasn’t the slim, blonde shy girl from her pictures but a much heavier woman with a glass eye.
Jesse and Brian
No matter who tried to convince Jesse that her online love Brian was fake, she insisted he was real — even though she’d never Skype’d with him or met him in person. And when she knocked on Brian’s door we were all shocked to find that she was right. Brian was not only real, the two immediately became inseparable and made one of the cutest moments in Catfish history.
Artis and Jess
This was the craziest episode of them all. Artis dumped his baby mama and his three kids to meet a woman he’d never talked to and only had one picture of. But when he went to meet Jess, he found out he’d been sexting with some crazy hillbilly who flirted with him to teach him a lesson about cheating on his girlfriend.
Mike and Caroline
Caroline had been photoshopping herself thin to impress her buff online love Mike. But turns out, Mike had been sending slimmer pictures too. It was sort of cute that they’d told the same lie and we thought they’d live happily ever after. But Caroline turned out to be kind of superficial and painfully dumped Mike after she found out he was fat too.
Keyonnah and Lil’ Bow Wow
Yes, a girl thought she was dating Lil’ Bow Wow, even though he’d never Skyped with her or met her in person. We all knew she wasn’t dating Shad Moss. But we weren’t expecting the man she’d been falling in love with to be a woman named Dee Pimping. Turns out Dee lured a lot of women to her house by pretending to be the famous rapper.
Mike and Caroline
Mike was in love with Caroline, a beautiful redhead who couldn’t see him because she was battling colon cancer. Only, she wasn’t. “Caroline” was a perfectly healthy woman named Heather who’d been stalking Mike for months. What’s crazier is this was the second time she’d Catfished Mike. After she revealed her true identity the first time, Mike said he wasn’t interested. So Caroline pretended to be another woman just so she could “date” him again.
