Think Before You Ink: Celebs Who’ve Removed Their Tattoos
If you’ve ever considered getting a tattoo, you probably told people about your interest before solidifying the idea, and more likely than not, you had at least one person tell you that you’d regret your decision later on in life. Tattoos are meant to be permanent, but today’s advanced technologies has made it possible to regret and remove a tattoo. Here are 14 celebrities who have had a tattoo, or a few, removed.
Spice Girl, singer, and dancer, Mel B, was once involved with actor Eddie Murphy. At one point in time, the relationship was so great that the two decided to get hip tattoos together. However, after the relationship became nothing short of tumultuous, Mel B decided that enough was enough, and she underwent a laser procedure in order to have her “Eddie” tattoo removed.
Clearly some celebrities do a lot in the name of love, including Adrienne Bailon. During her relationship with now ex Rob Kardashian, she decided that getting a tattoo on her booty was a fine way to show her love and commitment. However, like most Hollywood relationships, this one went downhill, and she was left with all sorts of regret. She has since had the tattoo removed.
Who knew that a career enhancement would cause one celebrity rapper to get rid of some of his defining markings? Back in 2010 when 50 Cent first started to pursue acting, he decided that it was the right time to remove some of his tattoos through laser removal. He wanted to be able to cut down on the amount of time that had to be spent in the makeup chair covering them up.
Aside from her acting skills and her recent decision to battle against breast cancer, Angelina Jolie is also well-known for her several tattoos, many of which she has caught a lot of slack for. When she was married to Billy Bob Thorton, Jolie got a tattoo as a tribute, but the couple divorced in 2003. She decided to have the tattoo removed and has since replaced it with the the longitudes and latitudes of the birth places of her six children.
Eva Longoria and her relationship with Tony Parker seemed to be picture perfect at first. However, the couple hit a lot of turbulence and eventually their marriage ended in divorce. During their relationship, Eva had he ex-husband’s basketball number tattooed on the back of her neck. She had the tattoo removed back in October 2012.
Kathy Griffin took the plunge and got a tattoo during her marriage to Matt Moline which lasted only four years. Crazily enough this is the only tattoo she’s ever had and it’s one that she eventually regretted and got rid of. Her tattoo was a depiction of a wedding ring that of course had to go once the real ring was long gone.
When it comes to regret and pain, Pharrell put himself through a lot of it when he underwent treatment to remove his tattoos. Not only did he remove one or two, he decided to get rid of an entire sleeve of them. Back in 2009 he underwent the laser procedure in order to get rid of the ink that was once a defining part of him. He called laser treatment his “new primer.”
Throughout her lifetime, Kelly Osbourne had as many as 15 tattoos on her body. However, back in 2010, she decided that some of her tattoos were forms of self-harm and many of them had no real meaning to her. After having her tattoos covered up for a movie role, she realized that she didn’t need them one bit, which furthered her decision to get rid of them.
Charlie Sheen has been through all sorts of drama lately, including potential drug and alcohol abuse as well as his divorce from his ex-wife Denise. Like most Hollywood stars, Sheen too decided to get a tattoo in tribute to his wife. The name “Denise” was tattooed on his wrist, but it has since been lasered off.

If there is any celebrity on this list that is known for his/her tattoos, it’s Kat Von D. Not only is she known for her tattooed body, she’s also known for her tattooing skills. After Jesse James’ relationship with Sandra Bullock ended rather quickly, Kat Von D took her swing at things. Somehow Kat thought that James would be loyal to her, so she had a childhood portrait of him tattooed on her ribcage. Once the relationship ended, the tattoo was quickly removed.
Back in 2011, Megan Fox decided to get rid of her Marilyn Monroe tattoo that once graced her forearm. Though Monroe is a well-known social icon that many women celebrate still today, Megan saw things in a different light. Once deciding that Monroe was a negative character and suffered from all sorts of personality disorders, she determined that the tattoo would bring her about negative energy.
For years, Heidi Klum and Seal were a loving and happy couple, and they always received a lot of media attention when Halloween rolled around and the couple threw their famous costume party. However, all good things must end and Heidi and Seal are now divorced. During the marriage Heidi had gotten a tattoo of her kid’s initials as well as Seals. She’s now in the process of removing them.
Former bad boy and well-known actor Mark Wahlberg once had a Bob Marley tattoo on his upper arm. However, after turning 40 and having four children, he decided that he didn’t want his kids to ever get tattoos, so he got rid of his own in order to set a good example. Mark was also sick of having to have them covered during makeup time when shooting a movie.
No one could ever forget the Hollywood couple that once was Nick Carter and Paris Hilton. Back in 2004, when the couple was crazy in love, they decided to get matching tattoos of each others names. Nick had Paris’ name tattooed on his wrist while Paris had his tattooed in a less obvious location. Nick and Paris have both had these tats removed.
