Many of us were stunned to learn that Halle Berry was expecting her second child at age 46. But it appears that the newly married Oscar Award-winning actress is not the only celebrity expectant mom in the 40+ club. Child star-turned-Hollywood-director, Kim Fields, is also expecting a bundle of joy!
The 44-year-old actress made the announcement during a recent appearance at Fox’s new daytime talk show, The Real, sending the audience into a boisterous applause.
“I have a big announcment. I’ve been in the lab, working both personally and professionally. One of the projects that I’ve been working on has been a co-production with my husband Christopher and… tada!” a glowing Kim said, as she rose from behind the desk to show off her protruding belly.
She went on to share that she’s having a boy!
“Yes, this is Quincy Xavier. He’s a boy, yes. Our first son, Sebastian Alexander, he’s six now. He’s very excited. My husband Christopher is also very excited. We’re very, very blessed.”
Unlike Halle, who referred to her second pregnancy as “the biggest shock of her life,” Kim revealed that she and her husband had been trying to get pregnant for some time now.
“It was planned. We’ve actually been trying for a couple years.”
The Platinum-haired beauty also shared that prior to this pregnancy, she miscarried twice.
“We had gotten pregnant twice and [miscarried]. Chris and I were very blessed to really have one another, to have our family and friends and our God to really get us through that.”
“If I’m encouraging to anybody … it’s not like I’m the poster child for over 40 and pregnant. Funny enough, for a minute I thought I was getting pre-menopausal ‘cuz certain things were starting to be irregular and then other symptoms started — my memory and I was clumsier than normal which I couldn’t even believe was possible. Then our son got sick with a stomach virus and I caught it. Chris said, ‘No, babe, you’re a little sicker than Sebastian. You need to go and get that checked out’ and I said,’Okay.’ They tested me and said, ‘Oh honey, you’re not dehydrated. You’re two months pregnant.”
