Were you aware that July 10 is National Kitten Day?! Yup! For all you cat lovers out there who are obsessed with your purrrfect cats, this day was made just for you. We put together a list of 10 proud cat-obsessed celebrities who can relate to your love for the felines.
Who better to start this list off with than the catwoman herself, Halle Berry? Last June, two kittens joined her family after finding four of them and their mom in her yard. According to her post, she found homes for the other two kittens and let the mother live in her yard after getting her spayed.
Our other Halle is also a cat mom! She has what looks to be a tabby cat whom was a gift from her family. Her loved ones got her the cat as she was preparing to go to the U.K. alone to film the The Little Mermaid movie. Bailey even named the pet Poseidon as a nod to her character Ariel. Ariel’s father is Triton and in Greek mythology, his father is Poseidon.
Chloe Bailey joined her younger sister in the world of cat parenthood. Initially, Bailey was more of a dog person but after seeing her sister with Poseidon she opened up her heart to cats. On New Year’s Eve, Halle and Chloe’s godmother gifted Bailey with her kitten and get this…her cat and Halle’s cat are siblings! In 2023, she toldCosmopolitan, “He’s Halle’s cat Poseidon’s little brother. Once I got him, it allowed me to enjoy being home more.”
Coi Leray welcomed her baby cat in the midst of awaiting her own daughter’s arrival. She shared a TikTok on March with her pregnant belly poking while holding a kitten in her arms. “Everybody meet my baby,” Leray said as the cat timidly looked around. She said, “Her name is Yuki.” Yuki appears to not be the only pet Leray has. Last year, she posted her Sphynx on her story and wrote, “Reunited with my child.”
Blac Chyna is a mom of several cats. She posted a video in 2024 introducing her three hairless cats to the world. She said the first one was a Lykoi breed whom she named Monster. Walking throughout the house, she then panned the camera to another cat she owns called Bel-Air. Chyna found her last cat, Mr. Riley, sitting in the window. She picked him up and gave him a few smooches after showing him on camera.
Jennifer Hudson is a self-proclaimed animal lover and she owns at least three cats herself. One of the cats she has is named Grizabella the Glamour Cat, after Hudson’s character in the 2019 movie, Cats. Her second cat, Macavity, is also the name of a character in the film, and the role was played by Idris Elba. Last September, Hudson revealed that she got her son, David Daniel Otunga Jr., a cat for his birthday. It’s a furry white cat that they named Popcorn after she saw him lying in her popcorn box.
It’s no surprise that Doja Cat would be a cat lover. The rapper has at least three cats that she owns. One is named Alex and the other two are Froderick ‘Frodo’ Frankenstein and Ray. Frodorick became the newest member of her feline family in 2023.
According to People magazine, Tiffany Haddish is mother to at least three animals, one of which is her cat, Catonic. The comedian rescued Catonic from the set of her film, Keanu. Last year, Haddish mentioned another cat while on Tea Time w/ Raven-Symoné & Miranda. She calls him Sleepy Black Man and explained how he disrupts her when she is trying to get her beauty sleep.
“Lately I’ve been sleepy with just my underwears,” she said, “and Sleepy Black Man, my cat, if my covers come down too low, he been batting at my nipples and that’s how I been waking up.”
Megan Thee Stallion scolded her fan base on the internet last year about her cat. She had just become a cat owner and the little fella was giving her a run for her money. “Why nobody told me having a cat was insane,” she asked.
“I got a Maincoone and I ain’t been feeling safe ever since I got this m-therf-cker.” The video continues to show various clips of her cat jumping around her bedroom, eating out of a chip bag and attempting to steal chips out of Megan’s mouth.
Lupita Nyong’o is now a cat lover after initially being afraid of them. The Black Panther star introduced her new rescue pet to the world with an Instagram post back in 2023. She named him Yoyo and explained that their connection was pretty immediate. “I fostered Yoyo from Best Friends Adoption Center, and 3 days into it, I knew I could not give him up,” she wrote in the caption. The 42-year-old also gave credit to Yoyo for saving her.
