Watch ‘Listen To Black Women’ Episode 6 Part 1 — Boundaries And Block Lists

- By

The season finale of Listen to Black Women is here, and we’re going out with a bang. In Part 1 of Episode 6, titled “Boundaries and Block Lists,” hosts Lore’l, Danielle Young, Jessie Woo, Torrei Hart, and Claudia Jordan dive deep into the controversial world of speaking out on social media. The ladies explore key questions like: When is it the right time to clap back? When should you just hit the block button? And do the same rules apply to Black women online?

The hosts sound off on the complexities of online interactions, the importance of setting personal boundaries, and the cultural nuances that shape how Black women navigate digital spaces. Claudia kicked off the conversation by sharing how she’s had to adjust her approach to dealing with online trolls, especially when heated topics come up. The radio host and TV personality admitted that she used to be more “reactionary,” often responding quickly when social media users attacked her for speaking out, particularly in defense of the underdogs in any given situation.

“I just couldn’t understand why I was so misunderstood,” Claudia told the group. “People don’t want to hear the truth.”

As if that wasn’t frustrating enough, Claudia added that nothing drives her more crazy than seeing people gang up on her, trying to one-up and “out funny” each other with insults in the comments section just for clout. “They catch your reaction, they don’t catch what prompted the reaction,” she said.

Sadly, Claudia revealed that much of the tough criticism often comes from people who look just like her. “I have never been hurt as deeply and as viciously by white and by mainstream bloggers then I have by my own people,” the star emphasized.

Woo shared a frustrating experience when she was quickly labeled the “villain” online after refusing to participate in a party booking run by someone she described as unprofessional. Reflecting on the incident with the ladies, Woo recalled how the hotel room she was booked to stay in wasn’t even in her name—it was reserved under a stranger’s. The person who booked her for the event, which was meant to celebrate Haitian culture, suggested that she cover the cost of the hotel herself. Feeling disrespected, Woo decided to leave and head back home.

Oddly enough, after she left, the event’s DJ, someone she had never even spoken to, took to social media to bad-mouth her. He accused her of being unprofessional and claimed that Haitian culture didn’t “f**k with her. Jessie, who is Haitian, responded baffled, asking how a hotel room mix-up had anything to do with her relationship to the culture, but her words were twisted to make her look like she didn’t care about the event or the Haitian attendees that would have come out to support.

“You could have possibly set me up to be assaulted,” Jessie said of the gravity of the situation, noting how even when she tried to rectify the mishap, she was still painted as the bad guy. “Sometimes people are committed to not liking you,” Jessie added.
