Pubic hair design trends have drastically changed over decades. Next time you find yourself scrolling through naughty content to brush up on your, umm, bedroom prowess, notice what the gworls were doing in the 1960s or 1970s. Bushy business will probably strike you instantly, as it is a stark difference from today where pubic hair has all but disappeared.
More and more women are going bare down there. In fact, a study published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine found that 80 percent of adult women shave their pubes at some point. Their primary reasons for doing so involve partner expectations and their sex life. But, not everyone is willing to feel like a young seal pup down there, and some women are holding the line on pubic hair. Yup – pubic hair trends are making a comeback. While most women have groomed down there before, a study reported on Telegraph found that most women also feel there’s too much pressure to remove pubic hair. Tired of the pressure and looking for a new directive to give your waxing or laser specialist at your next salon visit? Consider these pubic hair trends and styles.
The High-Leg Bikini

If you stopped by any pool or beach this summer, you probably noticed that high-rise string bikini bottoms are all the rage again. You tie them up on the sides and then pull those ties high to the hip bone. It’s actually a look that flatters female curves nicely, but it does leave the outer sides of your vagina nearly exposed. In comes the high-leg bikini pube style. It involves removing just enough hair around the perimeter of the outside of the vagina to look nice and smooth with a high-rise bikini bottom, but leaves a patch over the actual opening to the vagina, all the way up to where the bikini sits. That patch is kept short and trim. This is often called the Bermuda Triangle, too.
The Martini Glass

The Martini glass, at its base, looks a lot like the high-leg. The big difference is that, at the bottom of the triangle, instead of keeping things trim, women actually let some hair grow to its full length – like a little beard for your pubic hair patch. That long part forms what looks like the stem of a martini glass, hence the name. For those who believe that pubic hair keeps bacteria from getting into the vagina, this is a good option because it leaves longer hair just over the opening.
The Postage Stamp

If your partner has been struggling to find your clitoris, you might consider going for the postage stamp pubic style. This involves a tiny square of hair – about the size of a postage stamp – just above the clitoris. Consider it the, “Push this” button for your clitoris.
The Braid

Have your girlfriends over for a night of watching rom-coms and doing each other’s braids – not the ones on your heads though. Okay, maybe this is something you’d rather do in private, but rumor has it that some women are shaving just the sides of their pubic hair, letting the middle grow out, and plaiting it into the cutest little braid.
The Thin Strip or Landing Strip

If you want to go nearly bare but things feel a little too breezy around your vaginal lips, the thin strip could be for you. It leaves just a thin strip of trimmed hair right over the opening of your vagina, going up to the bikini line. Some refer to this as the landing strip.
The 5 O’Clock Shadow

If you like a little fuzz on your partner’s face, then maybe he’d also like some on your vagina. The 5 o’clock shadow refers to just letting a little stubble grow out, and then re-trimming. It’s less pressure than keeping the area perfectly smooth all of the time, and is less irritating on the skin. If you’re in a long-term relationship where sex has become less frequent, you might rock this look without even realizing it.
The Mohawk

Yes, you read that correctly. Some women are rocking a mini mohawk down there. It doesn’t stick straight up because, well, how would you wear clothes? But they’re shaving the sides, letting the middle grow out, and then styling and shaping it with mousse – just like a little mohawk.
