Is Motherhood Stealing Your Hot?

According to fashion stylist Bethany Winters–mom of two sons–moms stuck in a rut should get dressed in the morning. “Get up, shower, get dressed and put on a bit of makeup, even if it’s just lip gloss,” says Winters who blogs at her site

Winters also suggests that, if you can, get out of your maternity clothes. “If you can, buy just a couple of non-maternity interim items on the cheap from say, Target or Old Navy, it really helps. Just some drawstring pants to pair with pretty tunics or a shift dress. Also, shoes and accessories always fit!”

Celebrity stylist June Ambrose is constantly on the move and is also mom to two kids. Her tips for maintaining her Rock Mom status: “I wake up at least an hour before my kids,” she tweeted to Madame Noire. “Go dancing and laugh a lot!”

Other tips from Winters for moms to get back to sassy:

  • Wear nude undergarments (nude meaning the color of your skin!).
  • If it says ‘Juicy’ on the butt, it is not age appropriate – you are someone’s mother.
  • Wear the size that fits you, not the number that you think you are or hope to be.
  • Have an arsenal of comfy, easy pieces that work well together. One of the biggest mistakes women make, is purchasing a bunch of random items without considering what they already have in their closet; take an inventory before you shop.
