Latosha Brown is the quintessential renaissance woman. The award-winning organizer, political strategist, and jazz singer, works at the point at which social justice, politics and cultural arts meet. Brown has several projects underway but her work as co-founder of Black Voters Matter has been keeping her extremely busy, especially now, at the forefront of one of the most important elections in US history.
Black Voters Matter is an organization that aims to increase the voting power of marginalized communities. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. quotes can be found throughout the Black Voters Matter website, which makes perfect sense given that it continues Dr. King’s legacy of fighting for voting rights. Black Voters Matter strives to educate and empower disenfranchised communities, particularly Black people, about the power of their votes through messaging that speaks to relevant issues while also affirming humanity. It’s sad that we are still dealing with voter disenfranchisement in 2020 but the good news is, Latosha Brown is one of several warriors keeping up the good fight.
