Last week, actress and singer Christina Milian revealed that when she was dating Love Don’t Cost a Thing co-star Nick Cannon, she was able to break into his phone to read his messages, and when she did so, she caught him cheating.

“When I was dating Nick Cannon, the password somehow worked on the first check and I was right and the next thing you know, I was reading for like a month. I was reading messages,” she told Justin Sylvester on his E! News digital series Just the Sip. “I was stuck in Romania. I had time. I was like, I cannot bust him when I am away. I need to bust him in person so in the meantime, I’m going to get my intel, make sure this is for real for real and it was for real so it was enough.”

And while Christina considered them to be in a serious relationship (she said he was living with her) and Nick to be her “first love,” in response to her interview, he made it seem like she misinterpreted what they had going on.

“I don’t think I did anything wrong. I wasn’t cheating, you got to be in a relationship to cheat,” he boldly declared on L.A.’s Power 106. “We not going to get into the details but I would say the way I believe, if she went through my phone and all that, and back then [this] is what I told her and I will tell her now, if you go looking for something you gone find something.”

“And I’m going to tell you this, if a man, I’ll speak for myself, if I am careless enough to allow myself to get caught then that means I wanted to get caught,” he added. “The word is careless. You know what careless means? I could care less. I was at an age where I didn’t care.”

Nick claimed he was so over things that he made the password on his phone as simple as possible in case she wanted to stumble upon his extracurricular activities.

“0-0-0-0,” he said. “I didn’t give a damn!”

Christina and Nick were together from 2003 and 2005. This isn’t the first time he has actually opened up about what caused their relationship — or whatever he wants to call it — to end. He has said in the past that he never was looking for anything serious, which was in contrast to what she wanted (and interesting since he proposed to model Selita Ebanks in 2007).

“I was wrong for not being what she wanted me to be,” he said in 2006. “She knew from the jump. We were friends for months before we even got into it, and when we got into it, I was like… ‘Yo, anything remotely like a relationship, I don’t want no parts of it.’  I was just in a relationship, about to be married, been celibate for almost two years… It was a Christian relationship. We didn’t have sex for a year and a half. We were going to ministry-couple classes, premarital classes.”

The two made peace on the radio in 2012 though, with Nick apologizing on his show on 92.3 Now for how he handled things.

“I’m sorry for the things that I did,” he said. “We was young.”
