When it comes to pregnancy and childbirth, most parents hope and pray for a healthy child, with ten fingers and ten toes. But for YouTuber, Biannca Prince, after her daughter was born, she seemed to be preoccupied with her eye color and skin tone.

Prince, who is biracial, documents her life as a wife and mother raising three children on YouTube. And she must do it pretty well because the family has 3.5 million subscribers. Prince’s husband, Damien is Black and darker complected. With him being the father of her child, there is a chance that her baby could share his skin tone and eye color. But Prince seemed to be disappointed by that fact.

In a YouTube video, recorded minutes after Prince gave birth she made some problematic comments.

“She’s going to have brown eyes for sure. I had blue eyes when I was born. I thought you were going to have pretty eyes.”

Her husband chimed in to say, ‘She do got pretty eyes.”

Later, when Biannca’s mother and grandmother come into the room, she mentions her eyes again. “She’s going to have brown eyes for sure.” With a semi-sad expression. Then she says, “It’s okay.” Damien, asks Biannca’s grandmother how she feels about her great-granddaughter having brown eyes.

Grandma: “It’s okay. She’ll be a brown-eyed girl.”

Biannca: Damien thinks she’s going to be DJ’s color or darker. If you look at her nail beds and her ears.

Biannca’s mother: She’s dark.

The nurse: But she’s beautiful.

Damien: She about to be my color. I’m about to finally have somebody in the family like me.

Biannca: She’s not gon’ be your color. *Another questionable expression.*

The conversation about the baby’s eyes and color start at 12:55 and continues, off and on, until the 20 minute mark.
