Generally speaking, I think that getting back together with someone isn’t a great idea. We will all attempt it several times in our lives, and most of those times, it won’t go well. Typically, you’ll find that nobody has really changed—not in the fundamental ways necessary to make the relationship work. Usually, you’ll find that everyone can only be on their best behavior for so long, until those old bad habits come creeping back up. And that’s because, usually when a couple breaks up, it’s because they just weren’t right for each other. Yup—most times, when a couple gets back together, it won’t work out…except for that one time when it does. You see, there is one other reason some couples break up: it is that finding the right person can come with a lot of overwhelming feelings that can be scary to process and adjust to. Here is why you may break up once with the person you’ll spend your life with.

It doesn’t resemble love (to you)
Sadly enough, you may not even realize that you have very romantic feelings for this person. In the past, you may have associated “love” with feeling anxious, nervous, sad, angry, and uncomfortable. You were with the wrong people, but you’ve come to associate those feelings with “romance.” So, if you feel, oh, I don’t know—happy, safe, and calm with this man, you may think, “Well, there’s just no passion here.”

The feeling frightens you
If/when you do realize that the reason you feel completely different about this person could be because he is the person, that might terrify you. This may all happen on a subconscious level, but you may feel it’s too much to handle and bounce.
