After four decades in the music industry, Chaka Khan is taking on a new venture. The Grammy- award winner has always been known for her larger than life tresses and now she is getting her feet wet in the wig world with her new line, The Chaka by Indique collection. Women can choose between two styles, the Khanic Curl and the iKhanic Straight.
“I want to empower younger people, to live their best lives, to feel good about themselves,” Khan told Essence about her wig collection. “To love themselves. Even though I’m still working on loving myself. I’m still working on it but it’s something that I think can be achieved. Time for me to share.”
The “I Feel For You” singer’s iKhanic pieces won’t look like your typical hair collection. While colorful hair is popular, she is taking things up a notch.
“My idea is to do some like rainbow colored clip-ins and stuff. Not something pink, not pink and blue. I’m talking ’bout some hair colors, like real colors. I’m thinking of doing some leopard stuff.”
The iKhanic collection will also be accompanied by the iKhanic hair shine, a finding spray that also can be used as a heat protectant.
The 66-year-old is also hoping to branch off into fashion with a clothing line and dive deeper into the beauty world with a makeup line.
“I’m doing everything to help everybody I can to enhance the beauty that they possess. But I want to stress that the beauty comes from the inside and that’s the main thing.”
The Chaka by Indique line will be available starting April 30th at indiquehair.com and chakabyindique.com.
