Get Used To It: Tamar Braxton Says, "I'm Not Growing My Hair Back"

Anyone who has ever done a big chop like Tamar Braxton knows that there is something incredibly freeing about starting fresh with a short cut. Sometimes it’s done because it’s just time for a physical change. Sometimes it’s done because we want an overall change. For the 41-year-old, it was the latter.

“I’m over feeling captive to a wig, weave, people, people’s comments & opinions hell…even my OWN feelings!” she captioned a selfie with her new look after the transformation. “WE can choose to stop these things from having the power and victory over us!! And for me, that starts TODAY.”

She made that decision back in March, and months later, she’s more than happy with it.

“I’ll take me,” she captioned a video of herself hanging out poolside on Thursday. “I’m not growing my hair back. I like me for once!! You should try it!! #nothinglikeit”

We’ve been seeing a more confident and comfortable version of Braxton since the cut, and also since she decided to file for divorce from Vincent Herbert. While she initially filed to get him to see the importance in changing and in the couple having some space (he had been her manager, so they did everything together), she has said of her life now, “I’m at peace.” Not to mention, she’s also decided to move on and is in a new relationship with her Nigerian boyfriend of three months, who works in wealth management, and must be a fan of her short cut. She told her followers while on a vacation to Jamaica with her new man that “I haven’t been this happy in forever.” And last week, when Wendy Williams asked if she was open to getting married again and having more children, she jumped at the idea.

“Absolutely! I would love to have some wonderful, beautiful African children for the Lord,” she said. “Yes!”
