A report has surfaced from TMZ that Tamar Braxton has filed for divorce from husband Vincent Herbert, filing papers on Tuesday in LA County.

The divorce announcement follows news that the couple put their Calabasas home up for sale for $15 million recently, as well as reports that Herbert owes record label Sony more than $3 million. They sued him over advance drama from 2013. It also follows another hospital stay for Braxton recently, and her statements that Bluebird of Happiness would be her last album so she could focus on her family, particularly on her marriage. She told Entertainment Tonight that she and Herbert had a lot going on behind closed doors.
“There are a lot of things that I want to do, and a lot of things that are in the works,” she said. “There’s a lot of things that are going on in my relationship and me being close to this music industry, and whatever I can do to eliminate all of the stress and problems off of my relationship, I would rather do that.”
“My husband and I work very close together and it’s really hard, you know?” Braxton continued. “Not only do we work together, he is my baby daddy, and you know, we’ve been together forever. He’s my best friend. It’s a lot of things to discuss and argue about.”
And I would be remiss not to mention that all of this also follows the rumors of years of marital strife. That includes an argument in a hotel in 2016 that allegedly turned violent, as Herbert was accused of biting Braxton’s finger and a 911 call confirmed that the incident did happen. There have also been rumors he has a secret child (which Braxton publicly jumped on) and they’ve both had to face one another’s health issues over the years head-on.
Before the news hit of her divorce filing, the writings seemed to be on the wall. Braxton shared this inspirational message about being pulled back to be able to move forward from Sarah Jakes Roberts, which included mention of being removed from relationships that don’t have God’s “fragrance” on them:
At nearly nine years of marriage, the couple faced quite a bit of issues but always seemed to stand united. When asked about marital trouble, Braxton said it brought them together:
“It did nothing but bring our relationship closer,” she told Wendy Williams in March. “Because you know, I’m not gonna sit here and act like we don’t argue and we don’t fight. We work together, there’s a lot of things to disagree about. But I think that we’ve come to the point where we know that this is where we are suppose to be.”
Well, when it debuts on November 9 on WEtv, this is sure to be an interesting season of Tamar & Vince. Based on the preview, it seems most of the focus will be on Braxton (as opposed to both she and Herbert) and a secret she’s going to share on what, at this point, could be a last season.
