Typically, when we say someone had a tough win, you’d think it meant the amount of effort it took to win was intense or their opponent made victory difficult for them. But in the case of Naomi Osaka’s defeat of Serena Williams in the US Open, the victory was hard-won because not only did involve quite a bit of controversy but because she beat her idol.

You need look no further than her post-game press conference to see the range of emotions she experienced.

So when she appeared on “The Ellen Show,” DeGeneres wanted to lighten the mood a little bit. After she asked her about the match, Serena and what not, she asked the 20-year-old champion questions like what was her favorite color and who was her celebrity crush.

While she couldn’t recall his name, Osaka said the villain from Black Panther. So y’all already know. Michael B. Jordan. And Ellen being who she is, had Andy—her assistant, goffer, runner—bring her her phone to reach out to Jordan. The moment was equal parts cringy and cute.

Take a look.

Naomi shared the moment on her Twitter page as well.

Ellen was unfazed.

And because Michael B. Jordan is pretty sweet, (Naomi is fine.), he recognizes a good PR opportunity and because you don’t ignore a text from Ellen, he responded.

Hours later, he sent this message in response to Osaka.

Oooowww.

Obviously, Jordan is beautiful. But something about this video really got to me. Maybe it was the way he ripped his glasses off toward the end, the sincerity I heard in his voice, or the kindness in his words. I don’t know. But this message was it. As someone else online wrote, “he had me blushing like he was talking to me.”

Yes!

It would be perfect if this turned into a full-blown relationship but for right now, with so much sh*tty news dominating the airwaves, we’ll simply appreciate the kindness shared between two people.
