We’ve been watching Shay “Buckeey” Johnson on TV for years, but we never realized what a gorgeous natural beauty she is. That is, until the reality star swapped out her signature frontal units for a head full of faux locs and started embracing her freckles.
Yesterday, Shay posted a photo on Instagram showing off a faux loc wig made and installed by celebrity hairstylist Heaven Stewart and, honestly, it was hard to decide what was more beautiful — the locs in their various shades of brown with white highlights or Shay’s flawless skin, gorgeously adorned by her natural-born freckles.
Having watched Shay since her days of Flavor of Love, I was quick to assume she’d hopped on the faux freckle trend a little late, but as she pointed out in her post, the 34-year-old has no one to thank for her specks but her mother. And, actually, Shay’s been showing off her natural beauty — and proudly repping the #FreckleGang — on her Instagram page quite frequently as of late, making us wonder why she covered up all of her great features for so many years.
The natural look has definitely garnered praise from many fans and followers. Even Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Peter Thomas commented on how “Beautiful” Shay looks bare-faced in her new photo and he was clearly all smiles with her in the pic below.
