After giving birth to her second child, daughter Sienna in April 2017, Ciara started taking her fans with her on a weight-loss journey. She’d gained more than 60 pounds while pregnant and was ready to #BounceBack.

A year later, she’s 50 pounds lighter and sharing the regimen it took to get the weight off, which she says she actually did in five months.

“I was even more fired up about getting my post-baby weight off [this time],” the 32-year-old star told PEOPLE. “It was just my own personal goal that I set for myself. It’s a whole different animal when you have two kids, and it felt really good.”

Ciara said that she “had the craziest system” to meet her goal, and that included working out at least two, sometimes three times a day. She would fit in the workouts in between taking care of Future, 4, and Sienna, 1.

“I would wake up, breastfeed, then get Future ready for school. Then after I take him to school, come back and work out,” she said. “Then after I work out, breastfeed and go back and get Future from school. Come back and breastfeed, then go work out again.”

Workouts spread out throughout the day were done with the assistance of her trainer. And from time to time, after putting the kids to bed, if she had the energy and time, Ciara would do a third workout, which would be some cardio at night by herself.

But one form of training she definitely needs assistance with is core work. The singer revealed recently that after giving birth to Sienna, she developed diastasis recti, a condition where the abdominal muscles separate. Because of that, Ci Ci has been making a serious effort to bring those muscles back together.

“I have to work even harder. That’s a bit more intense,” she said. “A lot more effort goes into it because your muscles bulge out differently, and you’re trying to reconnect the muscles and retrain them.”

But Ciara says since losing 50 pounds, she’s easing up on herself, specifically on her dietary restrictions.

“I’ve definitely been picking up more burgers and fries,” she said. “Life is just so much better that way! I just do things in moderation.”

And even though she’s not totally at her pre-baby weight, she’s fine with that. So is her husband, Russell Wilson.

“I honestly like some of the hips that have come along with the post-baby weight,” Ciara said. “I’m not trying to lose those. My husband has been showing me love on my hips, too. He likes them!”
