The biggest names in hip-hop and R&B music will be headlining the Black Ball NY charity event this year to raise awareness for families inflicted with HIV/AIDS. The event which will take place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on September 30, will garner a host of surprise entertainers such as Jay-Z, Sade, and Alicia Keys to render a hand in the communal efforts in India, Africa and beyond to eradicate the disease or better yet, find a cure.

By continuing the tradition, Alicia Keys is organizing the “Keep a Child Alive organization event,” which will provide a financial base for families to seek required assistance they need to become healthy citizens. Co-founded in 2003, the singer has helped to generate more than $10 million in charity over the past six years. And with the help of major donations and musical influences, the soon-to-be-mom hopes to continue the success of the Black Ball Charity affair.

According to The Boom Box:

“Both icons and both major influences of mine. I am overwhelmed by their generosity in helping us continue the tradition of making the Black Ball the best fundraiser in NYC,” Keys said. “There are more surprises coming up! Stay tuned!”

Last year, the 2009 Black Ball event earned more than $2 million and recognized advocates such as the former President Bill Clinton and Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson.
