She Wasn’t Shooting In The Gym, She Was Raising Our Kids: Kobe Bryant Defends His Wife On Twitter
Last month we told you how after nine long months of being taunted by Drake’s infamous “You wasn’t with me shooting in the gym” line from his verse on Rick Ross’s “Stay Schemin” track, Vanessa Bryant had finally broken her silence via Instagram. She informed her followers that she didn’t need to be with him “shooting in the gym” because she was taking care of home. If you recall, in that particular line, Drake was referencing the healthy chunk of change that Vanessa would’ve been awarded back when the two almost divorced. Up until recently, Kobe remained fairly quiet regarding the matter.
The Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard recently tweeted about enjoying morning tea with his wife when a fan and Twitter follower reminded him of Vanessa’s absence during those long hours he spent in basketball practice.
“@kobebryant @LadyVB24 but… #SheWasntWithYouShootinInTheGym,” the fan tweeted.
Kobe calmly came to his wife’s defense.
“@lukashMAYYN No, she wasn’t. She was busy raising our kids #nonanny #respectmothers”
It’s good that Kobe is finally coming to his wife’s defense in this matter, especially since he used to seem thoroughly amused when fans would chant the phrase in an effort to demonstrate their support of him. It may have something to do with the two being officially back together and dismissing their divorce action, which Vanessa announced last month via Instagram.
Now that Kobe has spoken, hopefully we can put this overused, abused and misused one-liner to rest once and for all. Although, it was a bit humorous to see fans actually walk up to Kobe and say it.

Shaunie, Here’s A Lifejacket: 7 Ladies Who Could Make Things VERY Interesting On BBWLA Next Season

VH1.com
The “Basketball Wives” franchise is losing. Ratings appear to be plummeting and fans of the VH1 series are finding this season painful to watch with its sub-par storyline and uninteresting characters. A few weeks back we reported that viewers are literally begging Ms. O’Neal to put an axe to the Monday night train wreck. When one man took to Twitter to voice his concerns to the “Basketball Wives” visionary, she suggested that a possible solution is giving the show a complete makeover, which can be assumed to mean a new cast. Well, you know what Shaunie? That idea doesn’t sound half bad. Actually, it is probably one of the best things to come out of your mouth since…well, I don’t know when. But, you catch my drift. And she wasn’t kidding, she cut a majority of the cast this week leaving only Jackie Christie and Draya. So now that we’re back to the drawing board, here’s a lineup that might work next season. If you there will actually be a next season…
Oh, Really? Vanessa Bryant Says She Could Only Marry a Championship-Winning Baller
It is an extremely rare case that you hear something straight from Vanessa Bryant’s mouth, which is why it’s so telling that when she did opt to do press she fed right into the golddigging rumors that have followed her since she married Kobe Bryant at the age of 18.
NY Mag recently did a feature on the “The Belles of B-Ball: How NBA Players’ Wives Vie for Fashion Dominance” which included the LA Lakers basketball wife as well as Knicks player Tyson Chandler’s wife Kimberly and Amare Stoudemire’s fiancee Alexis Welch, but by far the most interesting tidbits came from Mrs. Bryant.
Here are a few highlights from her interview:
How she feels about all the attention on NBA wives
“I thought things would go away, if you don’t feed into the b.s., and no one would think about you. Now I realize I do have to talk about certain things. Still, I don’t like the limelight. There’s a lot of good you can do with fame, like creating awareness for a foundation, but a lot of negativity comes along with it.”
Whether things are on the mend with Kobe
“Um, yes. We’re working on things.”
Her take on basketball and being a basketball wife
“Oh, yes, I love basketball. And I know what goes on behind the scenes, so I have a different perspective on things, but still, I do. I certainly would not want to be married to somebody that can’t win championships. If you’re sacrificing time away from my family and myself for the benefit of winning championships, then winning a championship should happen every single year.”
Drama with Khloe Kardashian
“Everything is false. Khloé was at my 29th birthday. I don’t get involved in the drama. I’ve been with Kobe since I was 17, so I’ve seen plenty of players, and plenty of wives, come and go. It wouldn’t benefit me whatsoever to have an issue with any of them, whether they were a girlfriend, or a wife, a person-of-a-month, or … you know. And I think that’s why the Lakers as an organization give me the access that I have, that other wives don’t have.”
“If you notice, I am the only one allowed in that tunnel [to the Laker's locker room]. I don’t like standing outside and giving him a kiss in front of all the cameras. So I stand in there to get away from them. But then the cameras end up following. And if the girls are there, sometimes, that’s their kiss good night for Daddy, and when he comes home, they’re asleep.”
Misconceptions about her
“I think people imagine that I sit at home with all the time in the world to do my hair and makeup, but that’s certainly not the case. I’m up at 6:30 in the morning with my kids. I’m taking them wherever they need to go,” adding that she doesn’t use a nanny—“That’s the way I was raised.”
There’s also some talk in the interview about Vanessa’s sense of style, her 25-carat Valentines Day ring, and staying at the plaza, but anything of substance pretty much came out in the snippets above.
I get the feeling Vanessa is justifying Kobe’s infidelity under the guise of being a hardcore basketball fan who just happens to reap enormous financial benefits when her husband brings home that championship money, but maybe that’s just me.
What do you think about her interview?

It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over: Kobe and Vanessa Aren’t Getting Divorced?
I guess the media should thank Vanessa Bryant for getting them through a slow news season this past winter, even if it all the reporting was in vain. When Kobe Bryant’s wife filed for divorce after 10 years of marriage, everyone had something to say about his infidelity, her assumed conniving plan, why she was getting half when she never stepped on the court. The discussion went well beyond these two, but now that six months have passed and there’s still no signed paperwork. TMZ is reporting it’s not going to happen.
The thing is, under California law, Vanessa has to wait six months from the time she petitioned for divorce before she can file final documents to make things official. That six-month date will hit this weekend, meaning Vanessa could walk away from it all on Monday, but from the closed-door reconciliation that’s been going on between these two, that won’t be happening.
We already saw a few instances of the couple hanging out in public, with Vanessa showing up to one of the Laker’s games, and apparently they’ve been spending a lot of quality time together, although Kobe still hasn’t moved back into Vanessa’s home. Make that one of three of Vanessa’s homes, because back when these two were working on a divorce settlement, Kobe signed over the deeds to three mansions and supposedly awarded Vanessa $75 million—half of his worth—on top of that.
I do hope these two are able to work things out and be a whole family for their children’s sake but for some reason something tells me Vanessa’s getting her Shaunie O’Neil on and stacking away an even bigger nest egg for the moment when she decides to leave Kobe for good. But I’m just speculating.
What do you think? Will Vanessa and Kobe make it last or will she leave him for good eventually?

Celebs We’d Prefer to ‘Keep Up” With: 7 Stars Who Need Their Own Reality Shows
You can turn on the dial and there’s no shortage of reality T.V. shows. There’s always some celebrity (or person who knows a celebrity) willing to get in front of the cameras and offer up their lives as entertainment. The following celebrities will probably never sign on the dotted line to have a film crew keep up with them, but it would definitely make for must see TV for us nosey folks if they did.
Prince
The Purple One serves face like no other. He could give visuals for an hour and then some. A look is worth a thousand words and Prince could give us all something to talk about in the morning. He’s been a bit of a recluse for the past few years, and we all know he’s toned down his image big time over the years. But a glimpse into his world, how he makes his music, and what his love life is like these days would more than satisfy our curiosities.
Shaunie O’Neal Thinks Vanessa and Kobe’s Reunion is Wonderful
Shaunie O’Neal may not have been able to forgive Shaq for his indiscretions but she’s all for Vanessa giving Kobe Bryant another chance after years of cheating. TMZ caught up with the Basketball Wives producer and asked for her thoughts on their rumored reunion and photos of the two kissing at Kobe’s Lakers game, which Shaunie said she thought was “sweet.” She also said this about the couple reuniting:
“I think it’s wonderful … too much energy to be angry … some situations are worse than others, but I love it.”
When it came to another famous couple who’s rumored to be making more than music together, Shaunie had less of an opinion on their reunion. After being asked how she felt about Chrihanna, she said:
“I love me some Rihanna and some Chris Brown…I think that’s their business….I don’t care. If she’s good with it, then we should be good with it, right?”
That seems to be the motto these days.
It’s interesting that after being cheated on by a basketball player, Shaunie would root for another wife to get back with her cheating NBA husband. Do you think she was referring to her marriage to Shaq as one of those situations that are worse than others?

Vanessa and Kobe Bryant Caught Lip Locking at the Laker’s Game
I guess love was in the Los Angeles air pretty strongly for Valentine’s Day yesterday because it was enough to bring Kobe and Vanessa Bryant back together.
I’m pretty sure every fan’s jaw dropped when Vanessa marched into the Staple’s Center for the first time this season during the third quarter of last night’s game and took a seat right behind the Laker’s bench—wearing a red top and showing a lot of cleavage nonetheless. The two didn’t leave any thoughts of reconciliation up to speculation, Vanessa was cheering her assumed soon-to-be ex on hardcore an after the game, Vanessa and Kobe were seen sharing a serious kiss before he even got a chance to shower.
Either Kobe’s trying to get a house and some of that $75 mil back, or these two are really giving their relationship another try. Since the divorce won’t be final until mid-June, they’ve definitely got time to put this whole thing behind them. The question is, should they?
Are you surprised Vanessa was at Kobe’s game last night? Do you think it was just a Valentine’s Day rendezvous or could they be getting back together?

‘Basketball Wives’ Wants Vanessa Bryant
News that the VH1′s “Basketball Wives” series is gunning for Vanessa Bryant shouldn’t be surprising. But what is surprising, and a little ridiculous, is that they never asked Kobe’s soon-to-be ex-wife to be on the show when she was an actual wife.
According to TMZ, producers are putting together “an extremely lucrative pitch for Vanessa” to get her to appear on the show as a recurring character. One source says:
“Vanessa has more than enough storyline and would bring the show to another level.”
But why now when she’s almost a basketball ex-wife? Producers say they never dreamed of approaching Vanessa while she was married to Kobe, and according to TMZ’s source, Vanessa wouldn’t have been receptive to the idea. There were also budget constraints that wouldn’t have allowed the show to pay the hefty cost Vanessa no doubt would have demanded when the show was just launching last year. But now that the series is one of the highest rated shows on the network, producers have more to spend recruiting women viewers would actually care to see.
If, by some chance, Vanessa accepts, producers say they would instantly make her a lead on the LA edition of the show, which makes perfect sense. People care about her more than any of the other unknowns from the cast, but I’m sure Gloria wouldn’t be happy to hear that. Either way, it’s clear the producers wants to continue the trend of not having actual wives on the show at all.
Do you think Vanessa should sign on with the “Basketball Wives LA” cast?

Case Closed: Vanessa Bryant Gets $75 Mil and 3 Homes in Settlement
We knew Vanessa Bryant could get up to half of Kobe’s money when she filed for divorce from him in December, and according to reports that’s exactly what she got.
Vanessa is reportedly walking away with $75 million—half of Kobe’s worth— plus three homes (mansions) in the divorce settlement. The first home is the one which she, Kobe, and their two daughters lived in, the second is a house her mother currently resides in, and the third is a property that was just completed after a two-year construction. Initially, Kobe was said to be moving into the new place, but it seems he’s “homeless” at the moment.
Nothing appears to be settled yet regarding the children. Vanessa is said to have requested joint custody of their daughters Natalia and Gianna but she also asked that Kobe get visitation rights, suggesting she wants them in her care the majority of the time. From the looks of the property settlement, Kobe seems to be going down without a fight so I’m sure she’ll get her way with the kids as well. She can certainly afford to take good care of them.
What do you think about Vanessa’s clean sweep?
