The phrase ratchet reality star almost sounds repetitious since there are few, if any, individuals on reality TV with redeeming qualities  But these stars here are some of the most notorious on the tube, and quite honestly, the worst 15-minute celebs we’ve seen in the past few years.

To put it simply, Stevie J is scum and think he’s God. Sorry to break it to you Stevie J, but you’re just ratchet. He has no respect for women and makes everything a joke (remember his strip club threats?) I feel sorry for Mimi and Joseline. They have a problem on their hands forever.

Spinoffs are greatly appreciated for a few reasons: they allow viewers to see lesser characters develop independently; they give viewers a different take of the characters from the previous sitcom; and, finally, spinoffs are uniquely responsible for creating that ‘neighboring effect’ on television, allowing audiences and characters, alike, feel as if they are stepping from one living room into another. This has been seen time and time again in television. Cheers begot Fraiser, Grey’s Anatomy begot Private Practice, Buffy begot Angel, and  Dr. Who begot Torchwood. Check out some our favorites over the years.

Tuned In: The Finest Men On Reality TV

fine reality men

We have some of the most interesting discussions in our offices. I was out of town last week but when I returned, my coworkers informed me that they had a very spirited discussion about the most attractive and unattractive people in reality television. I won’t share who we didn’t find attractive. That wouldn’t be nice but I’ll give you a little peek into the list of fine brothas. (This list just so happens to be all black men.) What I learned from this conversation is that standards of beauty and attractiveness are completely subjective. My coworkers were making suggestions I really could not support, some of these picks made this list; but then again, they didn’t like everyone I suggested either. So without further adieu, let’s jump in and see who made the cut. If your favorite reality star cutie didn’t make the list, be sure to leave his name in the comments section.

Editor’s Note: Please keep in mind that this list is based on physical looks alone! Some of the men listed have some disgusting personal flaws but we’re just discussing the physical…and nothing else.

Last week we regretfully reported that former VH1 reality star, Ahmad “Real” Givens has been diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. After visiting doctors four times for what he believed to be the flu, the 33-year-old learned that cancer was actually the culprit in his declining health. The stallionaire refuses to give up without a fight though. According to tweets sent out by Real’s rap group, he began chemotherapy treatment last night and is doing better than doctors expected.

A representative on behalf of Givens revealed to TMZ that doctors at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, where Givens was originally hospitalized, advised that the former reality star begin oral chemotherapy immediately. As we reported earlier, the Givens family is raising money to cover Ahmad’s rising medical expenses. The representative says that his insurance company is only covering 40% of the bill. According to Giveforward.com, to date, $14,778 has been raised. Rap group, The Stallionaires, which Real is a part of with two of his brothers, continues to thank everyone for their support.

One can only imagine how difficult it is being the significant other of a celebrity as widely known as Jennifer Hudson, especially if that partner has a desire to establish a name for themselves in the spotlight. David Otunga, WWE personality and fiancé to songstress J.Hud recently opened up to the Chicago Tribune about that very subject, while promoting his new movie The Call. The Harvard Law graduate expressed that it is rather challenging living in his famous fiancé’s shadow and that he even had to fight for his own identity as a WWE wrestler because the organization wanted to build his character around Hudson’s celebrity status.

“It’s one of those things they kept bringing up no matter how many times I said, ‘Please don’t mention (Hudson). They kept doing it and it irritated me to the point that I changed my [WWE] character. That’s why I started a new character with a bow tie and coffee mug,’ the lawyer turned reality star said.

“I want to stand alone. I’m pretty successful in my own right. (Jennifer Hudson) still comes up, but what can I do?”

Otunga is also known for his role on VH1 reality show, I Love New York, which he starred in as one of the many men competing for the heart of Tiffany Pollard aka New York. He went on to say that people are really beginning to take notice of him and are seeking to learn more about him.

“People want to know more about me. They want to know who I am. It’s cool to finally have that attention. … That’s something I tried to do from the beginning — to be my own person. I wanted to do different things and try to establish myself. It’s great to get recognized for that.”

Well, I guess you have to respect his honesty.

What do you think of David publicly expressing his desire to step out of Jennifer’s shadow?

Unfortunately, we have some very sad news to report on this afternoon. We’ve just learned that Ahmad “Real” Givens, mostly known for his role on VH1 reality show I Love New York, which eventually resulted in spin-off show, Real Chance of Love, which he starred in alongside his brother Chance, has been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.

A representative for Real told TMZ that the 33-year-old former reality star first began feeling ill back in January, which he thought was a simple case of the flu. After going back and forth to the hospital four times, doctors told him there was something wrong with his liver. Last week he learned that colon cancer is actually what has been causing him to feel under the weather. Real will remain hospitalized until doctors determine what sort of treatment they should administer. A rep says doctors will more than likely reach a decision today.

Ray J confirmed the news a few days ago via his Twitter page while requesting prayers for his friend.

Tiffany Pollard aka New York also sent her well wishes.

Since Real Chance of Love ended, Ahmad has continued rapping with his brothers in hip hop group, The Stallionaires. He also launched a hair care line called Real Silk, which includes a variety of hair care products and equipment.

In addition to prayers, Ahmad’s family is asking for monetary donations to assist with his medical bills. Donations can be made payable to account “Cancer Funds for Real,”  Chase bank acct# 407662563.

Our prayers go out to the Givens family.
