For weeks, video footage that appears to depict “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” star Shay Johnson bashing a woman in the head with a glass bottle has been floating around the Internet. Now, reports are circulating that the reality star is being investigated by the Atlanta Police Department.
Interestingly, an aspiring singer by the name of Sharika Soal is confessing that she’s the one who forwarded the video along to the police department in a blog post titled “Why I ‘Snitched’ On Shay Johnson Of ‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.'” Her post reads:
“Well, as some of you may or may not know, Shay Johnson aka BUCKEEY of ‘Love and Hip Hop Atlanta’ and ‘Flavor of Love’ was issued a warrant by the Atlanta Police Department on May 19, 2014. You may or may not be familiar with the show and that’s fine because it’s besides the point.
I want to say that I am not a blogger, but seeing as how so many bloggers relish in the coonish antics that are displayed, I decided to just write it myself so forgive me in advance for the layout. I am a singer not a blogger. Anyway, May 18th while surfing the web as usual, I saw a video of Shay holding a Ciroc bottle ( yes the vodka bottle ) in her hand. She tapped a woman on the shoulder and proceeded to hit the woman in the head with the bottle as hard as she could.
I was so enraged by the video of Shay attacking the woman with a bottle and then continue the assault with her hands, I decided right then and there enough was enough. I immediately contacted The Atlanta Police Department via email and expressed my anger and frustration you can see that message below as well.
Again some of you might be wondering what would possibly make me this upset to “snitch” on Shay, Well if the video itself isn’t convincing enough maybe what I have to say next will be. The story of her assaulting this woman went viral, thus bringing more attention and celebrity status to Shay and her horrible acts and that horrible tv show called ‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.’ Can you imagine being the victim and watching your attacker get praised for maybe almost killing you?”
Sharika goes on to say that she got the police involved in an effort to save future generations.
“In case you were wondering, YES Vh1 was filming that day (2 months ago). They were filming for an upcoming episode, which features Stevie J and Benzino’s new club opening. The production company and producers did everything in their power to protect Shay from being arrested and charged with the crime for the sake of not having the future episode ruined. Had that been you or I , the police would have been knocking at our doors before we even got home.
If you are mad at me for writing this, you have to ask yourself why are you okay with it? I am not okay with it and I refuse to be told that this is acceptable behavior and maybe that’s because I might be one of very few who actually have a soul left for other human beings. I am doing this to protect my son’s generation and I am doing it because the victim deserves better. Period”
