BET Adjusts Focus, Adds Original Programming

African American Population Growing and Spending
During the presentation, BET reinforced the learnings from its African Americans Revealed study, which showed that the African American population is growing at a faster rate than the general population, up 13.4% since 2000. During the same time frame, African American buying power increased 55%, to $913 billion, and is expected to grow another 36%, to $1.24 trillion, by 2013, according to Mediaweek.
