Last summer actress Tika Sumpter surprised a couple of people when she appeared at an AKA induction ceremony carrying a pretty large and round baby bump. Later, she explained, on the cover of Fit Pregnancy, that she kept the pregnancy a secret because she didn’t want to hear questions about the child’s father.
But now, she’s engaged and she’s ready to share.
On today’s episode of “The Real” Loni Love noticed that Tika was wearing a ring. And when she asked her “Are we getting engaged!” Sumpter said, “Yeah, I’m engaged.” And then told the story of how her fiancé surprised her with the proposal.
“My baby’s name, her name is Ella. It was her first Christmas. He did all these amazing things. I went on a little hunt in the house for different things. And I thought, ‘Oh, he’s going to propose.’ But it was was a Peloton bike he bought me. And I like ‘Oh, that’s cool!” Then he had a letter behind Ella, He was like, ‘Ella has something to say to you.’ There was like this letter of just beauty and then he proposed. It was just simple and just awesome. It’s been burning a hole in his pocket for a while so he’s like, ‘I wanted to do this now.’
While nothing has been confirmed, it’s rumored that Sumpter has been dating her “The Have and Have Nots” co-star Nick James for some time now. Not to mention, there’s an image of him touching a baby’s hand on his Instagram page from about a week ago. And another one where he shares the books Oprah sent to their baby girl. And he gives the same name Tika gave sitting on the couch of “The Real.” So the cat’s out the bag, if it was ever in there in the first place.
